The Home Supervisor ensures that quality, comprehensive and person-centered services are provided to individuals in the homes. Provides on-going support for the health, safety, and welfare of all individuals served at the assigned site, fulfilling responsibilities directed by the Home Manager and assigned nursing staff to ensure the day-to-day operations of the home are maintained and the individual’s needs are met in accordance with positive behavior supports, trauma informed care and Individual Service Plan (ISP). Ensures a pleasant, therapeutic environment which supports individual’s wants and needs while following a person-centered approach.
Supervision/Mentoring/Training: 45%
- Directly and effectively supervises and evaluates the Direct Support Professionals in the assigned home. Organizes the work and efforts of staff so as to result in a pleasant, safe, healthy, and therapeutic environment for individuals. Recommends adjustments and changes to the ISP as needed.
- Applies the Right Time Right Place concept in order to provide adequate presence, support, interaction, and training of staff to address individual needs.
- Leads and completes the quarterly evaluation process, with the input of the Home Manager and nursing staff.
- Participates in recruiting, orientation, and training of the Direct Support Professional (DSP).
- Assumes the role of a mentor and teacher to new DSP’s and other staff by providing guidance, support, leadership, and site training to new hires. Engages immediately with newly hired DSPs to integrate them into the work environment and the procedures of the home. Remains available for on-going support and guidance.
- Ensures proper use and accounting of individuals’ resources and finances.
- Uses agency resources responsibly and ethically.
- Ensures accountability and safeguards of all funds, receipts, and documents. Ensure accountability of home’s budget.
- Approves and submits payroll and mileage.
- Responsible for self-development, continuous learning, and professional expertise so as to result in effective supervision, teamwork and programmatic oversight.
- Responsible for maintaining good communication with manager, subordinates, and others, including timely checking of voicemail and email.
- Complies with all agency policies and procedures (i.e.. Policy/Procedure Manuel, Employee Handbook, etc.). Alerts the home manager immediately of any concerns regarding associates and individuals served.
- Recognizes individual person’s (customer’s) needs and expectations.
- Interacts with peers and colleagues and all other customers with the understanding that service is our reason for existence.
- Displays a positive attitude. Responds positively to changes and demonstrates the ability to be flexible in their work environment.
- Ability and willingness to work with co-workers, customers, other Koinonia personnel, and management.
UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work will include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- May be required to modify assigned shifts/hours to provide direct care coverage.
- Routinely assumes 24-hour on-call responsibilities
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Two years’ experience in IDD or closely related field
- PATHS CIP and CAP certification preferred. If not certified, must become certified in CIP within one year.
- Must successfully complete Koinonia’s Orientation sessions, including all Supervisor trainings
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and stand for lengthy periods of time.
- Valid Ohio Driver’s License with vehicle liability insurance.
