About the Job
We are seeking a full-time Identity and Access Management Cyber Security Engineer 2 in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be dedicated to upholding Garmin's information security strategy, programs, and best practices, with a specific focus on Identity and Access Management (IAM) and will master the utilization of automated security capabilities using top-tier tools and processes to integrate security seamlessly into the operational cyber security pipeline. This person will possess a deep understanding of the cybersecurity perspective throughout the entire DevOps lifecycle, from inception to maintenance, ensuring that IAM principles are embedded at every stage. Acting as a security authority, this position demands demonstrated expertise and technical proficiency in cybersecurity, encompassing threat analysis, vulnerability management, intrusion detection, cybersecurity methodologies, and proactive defense strategies.
Responsibilities:Essential Functions
- Implement high-availability and performant applications
- Participate in designing/leading the implementation of high-availability and performant applications to bolster Garmin's security infrastructure
- Engage in the design/implementation of advanced systems aimed at maturing Garmin's Identity & Access Management (IAM) Systems
- Innovate/maintain a suite of tools essential for augmenting the robustness of Garmin's IAM framework
- Conduct comprehensive design/code reviews, driving improvements in efficiency, scalability, and stability across designated product areas/systems
- Proactively identify/champion necessary changes within codebases, product domains, and systems, leveraging advanced technical expertise
- Foster collaboration with cross-functional teams to integrate cutting-edge innovations and foster a culture of best practice sharing
- Articulate complex security findings to a diverse range of stakeholders, both technical and non-technical, demonstrating a deep understanding of IAM principles
- Participate in strategic planning sessions/recommendations for the implementation of technical, physical, and administrative controls, ensuring alignment with cost-effectiveness considerations
- Play an introductory role in developing and overseeing corrective actions in response to security incidents, showcasing a proactive approach to threat mitigation
- Actively contribute to cross-functional/team meetings, offering valuable insights and guidance on security-related matters
- Drive process improvements/strategic initiatives to elevate Garmin's overall security posture, showcasing leadership in advancing security protocols
- Execute projects with a focus on automation within an Agile framework, optimizing efficiency and scalability in security operations
- Take ownership of planning, implementing, managing, monitoring, and upgrading security measures to safeguard the organization's data, systems, and networks
- Lead responses to system and/or network security breaches, demonstrating strong incident response capabilities
- Participate in the change management process, ensuring seamless integration of security measures into organizational processes
- Oversee daily administrative tasks, reporting, and communication with relevant departments to ensure alignment with security requirements and standards, exceeding expectations where possible
- Demonstrate basic understanding of Garmin's business model, including Engineering, Operations, Finance, Sales and Marketing
- Research new technologies, propose cost effective solutions, provide innovation within area of expertise, and serve as a leader of change
- Contribute input to broader technology solutions outside of discipline
- Coordinate department level non-project changes
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, and Business, or related field AND a minimum of 2 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- Experience with designing, development, testing, implementation, and integration of Identity and Access Management (IAM) systems and solutions
- Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule) with the demonstrated ability to apply learned knowledge
- Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in a small team setting
- Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude, work well with others, be a driven problem solver with proven success in solving difficult problems, and possess excellent time management/follow-up skills
- Consistently demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work documentation and organization
Desired Qualifications
- Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5 as a general rule)
- Previous working experience as a Python Developer
- Previous experience working in a team environment
- Any IAM Security, Cloud specific IAM, or IAM DevOps certifications
