Position Highlights:
- To perform tests, repairs, calibrations, inspections, and preventive maintenance checks on Imaging related equipment used in medical diagnosis or therapy, applying technical knowledge of electro-radiological and mechanical systems, and user knowledge of computers. With certification and training in multiple or high-end imaging modalities, understands the global impact to business and customers of imaging decisions.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain Imaging service Budget, to include purchase orders, expenses, etc.
- Respond or direct responses to calls from Hospitals, clinical departments to evaluate and rectify valid operator complaints and concerns.
- Perform or direct planned preventive maintenance, calibrations where required, and electrical safety inspections on various Imaging equipment in compliance with established standards.
- Conduct or direct incident investigation, inspect and test malfunctioning equipment to determine course of malfunction, following learned procedures and manual instructions, using specialized test and analysis instruments and manufacturer’s specifications.
- Perform or direct major repairs by replacing defective components, glassware and readjust components to manufacturer’s specifications using appropriate tools and measuring instruments. May require certification in order to complete repairs.
- Utilizes specialized knowledge and training to perform or direct system calibrations within area of expertise. (i.e.-Rad, RF, Mammo, Nuc Med, Pet-CT, Linear Acc, Ct, MR, Ultrasound)
- Tests and calibrates equipment at regular or required intervals to maintain operational efficiency and manufacturer’s operational specifications.
- Operates specialized test equipment as necessary to conduct analysis and perform or direct complicated repairs.
- Perform or direct the testing and calibration of equipment at regular or required intervals to maintain operational efficiency and manufacturer’s operational specifications.
- Confers with upper Management, other Imaging Technicians, manufacturer’s representatives and equipment operators to resolve equipment related problems and plan service strategies.
- Make recommendations to the Management regarding service strategies on equipment.
- Conducts and compiles Quality Assurance records and reports necessary for compliance with specifications and policies.
- Demonstrate and reflect a commitment to the mission and values of The Company.
- Perform other duties as assigned that are intrinsic to the successful operation of the account and the company.
- Assists in training and directing other Imaging Specialists and cross training of BMET technicians into Imaging service.
- Maintain records and associated paperwork as required in timely fashion.
- Provide emergency on-call responsibilities as needed to all Company accounts.
- Research and initiate orders for repair parts, working within established budget parameters.
Credentials and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree – field of study: Science, Technology, Biomedical equipment technology training.
- Minimum of five (5) years experience in biomedical equipment repair and maintenance in research laboratory, hospital and/or healthcare facility is required. - OR –
- * Associates degree plus any one of the preferred certifications listed above, with an additional two (2) years of relevant Electronic Technician experience plus the five (5) years (for a total of 7 years) experience may be considered "in lieu" of a Bachelor's degree. - OR –
- * High School Diploma plus any one of the preferred certifications listed above, with an additional five (5) years of relevant Electronic Technician experience plus the five (5) years (for a total of 10 years) experience may be considered "in lieu" of a Bachelor's degree.
- Knowledge of electronic theory and skills in testing electronic equipment.
- Preferred Certification – CRES, Certified Radiology Equipment Specialist, OSEM, Varian, or relevant DOD military training certifications required with an Associates degree, in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.
