Position Overview

The ICT SPED teacher will co-teach alongside a general education teacher in an inclusion classroom setting to support all students in the classroom. The ICT teacher will co-plan and deliver lessons that incorporate multiple learning modalities, adapt and modify instruction, and create strategies and meaningful interventions to support students’ learning. KIPP NYC is looking for teachers who combine the ability to motivate and educate, to develop academic as well as character skills, and to make a college preparatory education relevant both now and for the future. 

Responsibilities:

• Teaching a rigorous academic curriculum aligned with New York State standards
• Teaching students in a high-quality, exciting way 
• Committing to constant professional and personal growth through working closely as part of a team of teachers 
• Constantly assessing student progress, and communicating results to families and colleagues
• Providing individual or small group instruction for students who need additional assistance
• Modeling a “whatever it takes” spirit to ensure that each student is successful.

• Strong interpersonal skills that contribute to a collegial working environment and a healthy measure of the character traits we value: zest, grit, hope, love, social intelligence, gratitude and a sense of humor.
• At least two years of teaching experience strongly preferred
• New York State teacher certification in the appropriate content area
• Bachelor’s degree required
• A passion for being part of a team-oriented, mission-driven school culture
• A strong desire to become a better teacher by joining the KIPP NYC team and family
• Demonstrated success in raising the achievement levels of students from the communities KIPP NYC serves

Compensation and Benefits:

KIPP NYC offers a competitive salary ranging from $69,440 - $142,270 per year.  Salaries are determined using an equitable compensation scale that accounts for years of experience relevant to the role, NYS initial or professional certification, and longevity within the KIPP network. KIPP NYC will evaluate a candidate’s years of experience, certification, and longevity at point of hire to determine the step/level a new hire will be placed within our teacher salary scale.
