We are seeking skilled Manual Lathe Machinist to join our client, a leading industrial company specializing in aerospace, automotive, and advanced manufacturing sectors. Position Overview:
As a Machinist, you will play a crucial role in producing high-quality parts according to detailed specifications. You will be responsible for setting up and operating various machines, ensuring precision and efficiency in every task. This role requires a strong understanding of machining processes, safety standards, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and set up complex machining tasks with minimal supervision.
- Produce parts to precise specifications and within budget using shop equipment.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all safety standards.
- Perform basic upkeep and preventive maintenance on machines.
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
- Operate manual lathes to create parts according to specifications.
- Ensure precision and accuracy when working with manual lathes.
Required Tools:
- Test indicators, calipers, edge finders, dead blow hammers, scientific calculators, combination squares, machinist handbooks, and other basic tools.
Skills and Expertise:
- Proficient in reading blueprints with a solid understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles.
- Advanced knowledge of G and M codes, including the ability to proofread, edit, and write programs.
- Strong grasp of shop mathematics, including calculating speeds/feeds, applying geometry and trigonometry, and using the Pythagorean theorem.
- Experience with overhead crane operations and rigging equipment.
- Thorough knowledge of cutting tools, speeds, and feeds, with the ability to optimize settings for maximum productivity.
- Ability to independently inspect parts to ensure they meet specifications.
- Experience with manual lathes, ensuring precision in part creation.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of 3+ years of relevant experience in a machining environment.
