Achievement First invites passionate Physical Education educators to apply for the position of Physical Education Teacher. Teaching at Achievement First is an ideal position for a PE educator who is passionate about supporting and motivating each student in cultivating physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle and discovering and developing their skills in individual and team physical activities and sports.
Here, you will be the driver of PE instruction and culture as students fall in love with physical fitness and athletics and the process of developing their athletic abilities. You will be a champion for physical fitness and health who believes that all students are capable of participating in and enjoying sports and physical activity.
Responsibilities of Achievement First Physical Education Teachers will include but are not limited to:
Outstanding athletic or fitness achievement and personal development
- Create a culture in which students, staff and families develop a love for physical fitness and athletics.
- Design and implement unit and lesson plans based on Achievement First Physical Education Curricular Resources which foster teamwork, healthy lifestyles, sportsmanship and build skill across a variety of sports and athletic domains
- Build a schoolwide athletic community by partnering with families and staff to facilitate children's personal athletic development through a variety of sports clubs and teams.
- Exemplify AF's core values in all interactions with students, families and colleagues.
Professional learning, development and growth
- Collaborate with PE teachers across the organization to build a world-class athletics program.
- Collaborate with school-based coach, grade-level chair and school-based colleagues to improve instructional, culture-building and leadership skills.
- Attend all professional development, team planning and data analysis meetings.
- Participate enthusiastically in structured and informal learning and development opportunities.
Skills and Characteristics
- Strong PE instruction and classroom management skills.
- High level of personal organization and planning.
- Team player: maturity, humility, strong work ethic, follow-through, sense of humor, willingness to respond positively to feedback and a "roll-up-my-sleeves" attitude.
- Strong belief in the Achievement First mission, core values, and educational model.
Educational Background and Work Experience
- Two years of teaching experience preferred with a proven record of high student achievement
- Experience coaching youth or collegiate team sports
- Bachelor's degree in the Physical Education or a related field
- Rhode Island PE Certified or in process of obtaining a certification.

Compensation
- Employees at Achievement First are provided with a competitive salary. Our salaries are set through a lens of equity, and based on an individual's skills, education, and years of experience relevant to the role. Teachers' salaries range from $47,330-$78,482, based on experience.
- As a regular full time employee of Achievement First, you will be eligible for benefits that include medical, dental, vision, and life insurance as well as a 403(b) retirement benefit package with match and paid Family Leave.
