The Imports/Purchasing coordinator is responsible for facilitating the accurate and timely imports of shipments from multiple countries of origin for assigned goods. This position charges, costs and arranges the movement of goods and flow of paperwork to ensure customs clearances are obtained quickly and deliveries are made on time.

Job Summary
The Imports/Purchasing coordinator is responsible for facilitating the accurate and timely imports of shipments from multiple countries of origin for assigned goods. This position charges, costs and arranges the movement of goods and flow of paperwork to ensure customs clearances are obtained quickly and deliveries are made on time.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Manages all aspects of the imports process, including customs clearance and transportation logistics, for assigned accounts.
- Coordinates collaboration among global suppliers to ensure consistent delivery of orders. Leverages relationships to manage shipping risk and resolve global shipping crises.
- Issues Purchase Orders and ensures they are fulfilled based on customer specifications.
- Schedules and monitors materials through the fulfillment cycle. Tracks shipments and manages logistics to ensure on-time delivery.
- Responsible for imports documentation for assigned accounts. Collects, verifies and maintains accurate and up-to-date records for imported goods.
- Ensures compliance with all US import regulations. Processes and manages all necessary import documentation to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Liaises with overseas suppliers and agents to gather product information and shipping details.
- Ensures that purchasing problems, errors or discrepancies are promptly tracked and resolved. Coordinates with internal teams to ensure timely and accurate resolution of any issues.
- Bachelor’s degree in international business, supply chain management or related field required
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in imports required
- Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
- Experience working with Customs procedures and regulations strongly preferred
- Experience in Chemical industry preferred
- Multilingual a plus
- Ability to collaborate and work well in a team; Ability to build cross-cultural rapport and interface with individuals at different levels, both internally and externally
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; Ability to adapt communication style for audience
- Strong organization skills, attention to detail, and follow-up
- Results-oriented attitude; Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to prioritize responsibilities, manage time effectively and meet deadlines accordingly
