About the Job
Position Summary: As an Industrial Engineer specializing in greenfield operations, manufacturing building moves, flow optimization, Lean principles, and process improvement, this role will be a key player in designing, implementing, and improving processes within our new and existing facilities. This position will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of sustainable practices and efficient operations from the ground up. A strategic, creative thinker with a strong technical background and a passion for driving continuous improvement will be required.
Main Duties:
Greenfield Operations:
- Lead the design and layout of new manufacturing facilities with a focus on safety, sustainability, energy efficiency, and waste reduction.
- Collaborate with architects, construction teams, and other stakeholders to ensure that green building principles are incorporated into facility design and construction.
- Develop and implement processes for the procurement of equipment for new facilities.
- Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for green initiatives, presenting findings to stakeholders for decision-making.
Building Moves:
- Plan and coordinate the relocation of manufacturing operations to new facilities, ensuring minimal disruption to production schedules.
- Develop detailed move plans, including equipment layout, workflow optimization, and logistical considerations.
- Work closely with vendors and contractors to facilitate the safe and efficient transfer of equipment and materials.
- Conduct post-move evaluations to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed.
Continuous Improvement and Flow Optimization:
- Analyze existing workflows and identify opportunities for optimization, waste reduction, and cost savings.
- Utilize Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to streamline processes and improve overall efficiency.
- Implement visual management tools and performance metrics to monitor and track progress.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to standardize best practices and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform downtime, line balancing, motion, and manufacturing capacity studies, design product line layouts and route plans.
- Perform work simplification studies (flow analysis and value analysis) on assembly lines to improve labor efficiencies and material utilization.
- Facilitate and lead teams on continuous improvement projects through lean manufacturing, process control, automation, and quality assurance.
- Develop process improvements for fabrication, assembly, and packaging. Provide on-going technical support for new and existing manufacturing systems.
- Maintain engineering changes, bills of materials, product routings, and manufacturing/process information.
- Develop and maintain SOP and quality documentation as it relates to engineering and manufacturing.
- Travel to other manufacturing facilities on an as needed basis, sometimes for extended periods of time.
- Provide support to Manufacturing, Quality Assurance and Materials Management as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Engineering or related field plus 5 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience in the metal stamping and fabrication field.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams)

Physical Requirements:Sit, stand, walk for long periods of time as needed in a manufacturing environment.
Work Conditions
Environment: Typical environment will be an office with moderate noise; however, extended periods of time will be spent on the factory floor exposed to very loud noise.
Travel: 25% with occasional continuous overnight stays based on project requirements.
