Job DescriptionEssential Job Functions:
- Standardize kaizen documentation and work with the plant leads during Jishuken (self study and improvement) activities for assigned Region.
- Oversee equipment improvement processes to ensure desired results are achieved.
- Work with Manufacturing, Maintenance and other production functions to improve processes and efficiencies through line balancing, and other Kaizen/ Jishuken activities.
- Perform pre-kaizen / Jishuken activity by gathering data using TPS (standardized work) documents. (Video process, standardized work combination chart, standardized work chart, balance chart, process capacity sheet, etc.).
- Identify, develop, and teach needed education materials for TPS skill improvement for Team Members at all levels in the organization.
- Implement TPS methods and techniques to establish the most efficient processes and procedures.
- Lead kaizen activities to improve safety, quality, and productivity.
- Train employees in 5S/Kiazen (Jishuken) concepts/principles.
- Develop effective 5S/Kiazen (Jishuken) training materials, tools, and resources.
- Prepare/install visual postings for 5S and improvements (signs, markings, etc.).
- Facilitate and participate in ongoing improvement projects involving 5S, Kiazen, Jishuken, etc.
- Establishes metrics to monitor/sustain improvements (inspections, audits, etc.).
- Audit factory and office areas to ensure compliance/sustainment.
- Analyze new and existing work processes and develop improvement plans in accordance with quality and engineering standards.
- Work closely with supervisors and production team members in problem solving
- Perform functions such as instructions and demonstrating new processes to team members.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or related field required or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing techniques (Lean Six Sigma, 5S, Process Improvements, 8 Wastes, Yokoten)
- Experience working with problem solving teams and/or training associates.
- Understanding of the manufacturing processes and the support services necessary for associates.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.
- Understanding of TPS (Toyota Production System) core principles.
- Ability to solve problems using TBBP (8-step problem solving method).
- Ability to recognize and eliminate common forms of muda (waste) associated with assembly production. Manufacturing processes
- Ability to differentiate value and non-value added job functions.
- Familiar with basic TPS documents such as Yamazumi Charts, Combination Chart, Process Capacity, and Standardized Work Sheet.
- Familiar with basic TPS tools such as Fixed Position Jidoka Stop, Andon, and Kanban.
- Excellent organization skills.
- Understand the organizational structure and terminology.
- Must be knowledgeable of company products, design specifications, quality standards, procedures and equipment.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Must be familiar with budgets and costing.
- Must be creative and innovative.
- Analytical thinking, judgment and problem solving skills are required.
- Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and implement projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2 years of relevant experience
- Experience in the assessment of training needs and the development of programs to meet those needs.
- Experience working with problem solving teams and training associates.
- Experience with QC circle activities or Jishuken activities within the last 1 year.
