Job Description
Job Purpose
Under minimal supervision, the Industrial Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for keeping the plant equipment in good working conditions. Responsible for reducing downtime on operating lines by performing preventive maintenance duties and providing technical support for equipment that is down.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Pay close attention to, and follow all Safe Work Practices.
- Mechanics are responsible to make sure all of their work scheduled for the week is completed. If work is not completed, notes will be attached explaining reason or cause for failure.
- Check with Production Foreman and Supervisor to coordinate work.
- Enter and close work order in EMPAC system.
- Create a Work Request in the system for corrective work needed. (include as many details as possible up to and including part numbers)
- Communicate with A/C and planner any work that may need to be rescheduled for the next week.
- Maintains and repairs production equipment.
- Maintains and repairs plant support equipment, and electrical/mechanical/pneumatic/hydraulic systems.
- Provides accurate, thorough and complete information on required maintenance documents (i.e., inventory control forms, purchases, requisitions, repair forms, etc…)
- PM’s, Repairs, Trouble shoots, equipment.
- Understands SAP systems.
- Follows all plant GMP polices and JSA procedures.
- Timely completes assigned PM’s in association with the CMMS program.
- Participates and support in TPC related functions in order to meet efficiency standards.
- Participates and support in all Safetyrelated functions in order to work safely.
- Complies with all plant security policies
- Performs other duties as needed

- Hand Tools
- Power Tools
- Operate manlifts and forklifts.
Requirements
- Must be willing to work off-shifts and/or weekends.
- Join Local Union.
- In house job and safety training (on the job)
- Specialized maintenance in house safety training
- Emergency response training.
- Basic food manufacturing plant operations (Meat processing plant preferred) including MAP packaging operations.
- Basic understanding of utility systems (ammonia refrigeration, boilers, compressed air, waste water, glycol and ice water systems)
- Job Safety Analysis and Good Manufacturing Practices
- Basic math
- Read, write and speak English
- Basic computer skills (Computerized maintenance software)
- Basic electrical circuit troubleshooting motor control and reading electrical prints. ( 3 phase 480 / 240 power)
- Basic PLC and control system troubleshooting
- Basic instrumentation and VFD troubleshooting
- Basic machining and welding.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years previous experience as a mechanic working in an industrial environment (Food and/or dairy experience preferred).
- Demonstrate ability to effectively carry out the duties and responsibilities of the job.
- Can communicate effectively with co-workers
- Must be willing to fulfill Safety, Quality and Reliability standards of plant
