About the Job
The duties of the Lead Industrial Maintenance Technician will primarily consist of leading & coordinating the daily activities of employees in the Industrial Maintenance department performing the installation, maintenance, testing, inspecting, cleaning, painting and repairing of equipment, physical structures, and plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems on Company facilities.
Duties will take place primarily in and around SSEMC-owned premises, including headquarters, apparatus, garage, and branch offices. Occasionally, duties may be performed at other facilities/locations for company functions as necessary. A successful candidate will have full working knowledge of all aspects of Industrial Maintenance and leadership skills to lead personnel including problem solving and communication skills.

- Leads and coordinates the daily activities of employees in the Industrial Maintenance department.
- Maintains accurate records on all building inspections, generators, HVAC units, pole hoists, cranes, sprinkler systems (wet and dry) and annual water backflow prevention inspections.
- Recommends changes in installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance.
- Cleans, repairs and maintains the physical structure of SSEMC’s facilities.
- Installs, maintains, operates, troubleshoots and repairs all company-owned electrical, plumbing and HVAC related equipment and systems.
- Checks functioning of equipment and systems to evaluate system performance under actual operating conditions.
- Fabricates and repairs any structures as needed.
- Maintains the UPS system on a routine basis as required.
- Assists the Industrial Maintenance department supervisor with:
- Job planning
- Employee training
- Testing/evaluation of new equipment and systems
- Design and selection of new systems and processes
- Assists other departments with special installations, maintenance, troubleshooting and/or repairs as needed.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Complete knowledge and execution of:
- Electrical system hazard recognition and safe work practices
- Advanced electrical concepts and theory
- Plumbing and HVAC systems and best practices
- Proper use and maintenance of power, pneumatic and hand tools
- Applicable OSHA requirements
- Reading of schematic diagrams and blueprints
- Strong and reliable troubleshooting skills required
- Ability to properly and safely use a variety of test equipment
- Strong computer skills including proficient and accurate keyboarding skills.
- Working understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Project.
- Legible handwriting and the ability to use a calculator are required.
- Must be able to follow safety procedures as set forth by SSEMC and local, state, or federal codes.
- Must be capable of safely operating mechanical assist devices such as forklifts, scissor lifts, bucket trucks, etc.
- Frequent overtime required and occasionally work irregular work hours.
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; Associate degree (A. S.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school in an electrical or HVAC related field of study; Minimum of 4 years of successful job performance as an Industrial Maintenance Technician II; or minimum of 5 years experience as a licensed Electrical Contractor or Conditioned Air Contractor. Equivalent experience and/or training may be substituted.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Valid Georgia Driver's License required
Valid Class 2 Electrical Contractors license or Class 2 Conditioned Air Contractor license required, State of Georgia preferred
- Basic first aid skills certification including CPR required
- Forklift Operators Certificate required
- Electrical License Preferred
