Industrial Painter / General Laborer - Bekum America Corporation

We are seeking qualified candidates for our General Laborer / Painter opportunity to join our Williamston, Michigan team! This position performs routine manual labor tasks and assists production by performing the following duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

Responsible for maintaining compliance with OSHA, MIOSHA, and Company safety standards.

Assists in the application of paint and/or other coatings to surfaces, trimmings, fixtures, and machines or sub-assemblies.

Prepares parts by cleaning and removing dirt and grease from surfaces for painting.

Inspects parts for weld quality, dents and gouges, cracks.  Defuses, sands rust and repairs defects as needed.

Selects paint or mixes required portions of pigment, oil, thinning, and drying substances to prepare paint that matches specified colors.

Sand blast parts as required.

Reads work order(s) or receive instructions from Painter and/or department supervisor regarding painting.

Assists in the responsibility for maintenance/repair of building/installed equipment or new equipment as assigned.

Assists in other departments as temporary assignment.

Operates power equipment and material handling equipment (forklifts, cranes, etc.).

Responsible for preventative maintenance and good housekeeping to insure good quality and continuation of safe operation.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one (1) to three (3) months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Prior painting experience will be given preference.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Maintain tools and equipment and keep supplies and parts in good working order.  Clean work area, machines, tools, and equipment.  Perform other routine duties.  Ability to distinguish a quality paint job versus a substandard one.  Responsible for performing all work efficiently and in compliance with quality, quantity, and safety standards as established by Bekum.
