ITAC is looking for a detail-oriented and skilled Industrial Painter/Powder Coater to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for applying paint and powder coating to various surfaces, ensuring high-quality finishes that meet our standards. This role is crucial in maintaining the aesthetic and functional integrity of our products.
Job Summary:
- Collaborating with the project manager to identify painting needs and assisting them in making optimal project decisions.
- Installing ventilators and other safety measures to safeguard painter(s) from harmful fumes.
- Preparing surfaces for painting through sandblasting and thorough cleaning to ensure they are free from contaminants.
- Applying primer and various sealers to surfaces to guarantee proper adhesion of the paint.
- Using brushes, rollers, or sprayers to apply paint and other finishes to the designated surfaces.
- Managing an inventory of supplies such as paintbrushes, rollers, tarps, and other consumables.
- Cleaning machines, equipment, and workspaces with water, solvents, and other cleaning agents.
- Reviewing and executing work orders and assignments as instructed.
Responsibilities
- Cleaning and preparing surfaces: Prepare surfaces before painting. If the surface is already covered with one or more coatings, it may be necessary to remove them using abrasive blasting, dry ice blasting, or soda blasting.
- Paint preparation: Ability to prepare paint, using equipment like viscosity cups, thickness gauges and gloss gauges to check paint composition.
- Applying paint: Use a variety of techniques and tools to apply paint, including airless or electrostatic spray equipment, rollers and brushes. Ability to choose the right tools for the job, whether they are applying primers, prefinishes or topcoats.
- Compliance with safety standards: An industrial painter’s own safety and that of their colleagues must be considered at all times.
- Cleaning equipment and work areas: Responsible for cleaning the treated area and also their equipment after completing a job. Carefully follow all instructions for the safe handling and disposal of chemicals and hazardous waste.
- Responsible for maintaining their painting equipment, which can be quite technical. Ability to understand how to adjust industrial painting equipment and make sure it works properly.
- A powder coater is responsible for applying powder coating to products, usually using a handheld spray gun in a spray booth whilst wearing protective equipment. Perform targeted and detailed work to maintain the quality of the finished product
- Spray Powder Coat, prep parts, maintain machines and keep work area clean.
- Maintain records of coated parts and colors.
- Ability to change color and clean booth multiple times during the shift and ensure that no color contaminates the other.
- Move racks in and out of the oven reaching high temperatures.
- Assist in solvent cleaning and racking parts.
- Work in accordance with all safety procedures and policies, and wear all PPE as needed
- Assist other manufacturing departments as directed by Management when necessary
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures and Standard Code of Conduct
- Maintain regular and prompt attendance
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial painting and powder coating.
- Knowledge of different types of paints, finishes, and application techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret specifications and work instructions.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- Experience with automated coating systems is a plus.
- Must have Drivers License and reliable transportation
