Summary/Objective
The Pipefitter lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and industrial production and processing systems, applying knowledge of system operation and following blueprints.
Essential Functions
- Selects type and size of pipe, and related materials and equipment according to specifications.
- Plans installation or repair to avoid obstructions and to avoid interfering with activities of other workers.
- Cuts, threads, and bends pipe.
- Assembles and installs variety of metal and nonmetal pipes, tubes and fittings, including iron, steel, copper, and plastic.
- Connects pipe and secures to structure.
- Installs and maintains hydraulic and pneumatic components of machines and equipment.
- Other job functions: May assist other trades as directed by the job superintendent.
- Must be physically healthy to stand, bend, and walk for up to 8 hours per day.
Work Environment
The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. This position is performed in outside weather conditions
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
One year of pipefitter experience preferred but not required. Must be at least 18 years of age. Applicants must hold a Regular Operator (Class D) driving license. Applicant must have no felonies that are violent in nature and/or theft related in the last 7 years. Applicant must have reliable transportation to and from job site. High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Job Salary and Benefits
* 40 hours per week or more. Overtime may be required for this position
