About the Job
Information Assurance Network Specialist Candidate shall support the system and network defense services IAW DoDI 8500.01, para 19; AFMAN 17-1301, para 2.6; and AFI 17-101, para 2.16. Candidate shall also perform Cyber Security Liaison Services for HQ CLIENT and local JBSA Lackland PSUs only. The Candidate shall provide support IAW AFI 17-130, para 2.17. Duties include:
Implements/supports organization’s cybersecurity program IAW with Air Force, JBSA Lackland, and CLIENT policies regarding Information Assurance.
Submits all requests for external hard drive approval. Works with users to gather required information, inputs into spreadsheet, and submits to the 502 CS for coordination and approval.
Expeditiously completes compliance with TCNOs and AFCERTswhen received and report status to CLIENT Government POC.
Implement tools and corrective measures in IAW local communications squadron directives.
Evaluate incidents, threats, and vulnerabilities facing Air ForceADPE.
Reviews and coordinates on all network access request for all local HQ CLIENT and PSU personnel. Ensure all users have the requisite security clearances, supervisory need-to-know authorization, and are aware of their cybersecurity (via cybersecurity training) before being granted access to Air Force IT according to AFMAN 17-1301, chapter 4, and AFI 16-1405, Personnel Security Program Management.
Adhere to Air Force, JBSA Lackland, and CLIENT regulations concerning Computer Security. Provide input to implement and enforce all Air Force cybersecurity policies and procedures, to include Computer Security, Communications Security, TEMPEST.
Verify and coordinate on any required compliance and/or responses, following-up as necessary.
Preparing, tracking and maintaining required security certification of the AFCEC functional servers and networks.
Provides input for inclusion in the quarterly Information Assurance (self- inspection) report containing, at a minimum, the following: list personnel who have in and out-processed CLIENT, USB violations, Revoked /Suspended Account Information, and explanations of any problem areas or any recommendations concerning ISSO duties.
Minimum Experience/ Requirements
- Three (3) years of experience in computer system/network management to include two (2) years of specialized experience related to Network/Task Management.
- Three (3) years’ experience working with military Information Assurance policies and procedures.
- Information Assurance Certification Requirements. Shall possess as a minimum active IAT Level II certification IAW DoD Manual 8570.01.
Candidate shall have an active Secret clearance.
Estimated Workload
- Develops/Provides Customer Training/Awareness to approximately 500 users annually.
- Processes approximately 1700 account tickets per year relating to account creation/provisioning/de-provisioning.
- Enforces checklist items enforcing IA policies affecting approximately 3000 users.
- Provides coordination of approval/sustainment for approximately 5000 pieces of equipment connected to the AFIN.
- Provides input for the quarterly IA reports to Wing IA.
- Provides coordination of approval for external media exceptions encompassing approximately 200 devices.
- Performs IA remanence procedures/clearing DRMO for approximately 500 pieces of equipment per year.
- Performs periodic maintenance for the SIPRNET workstation approximately 35 tickets per year.
- Provides input for the quarterly IA reports to Wing IA.
- Provides coordination of approval for external media exceptions encompassing approximately 50 tickets per year.
- Process classified spillage incident packages as required.
- Develops IA violation response procedures/exercises to support monthly reports.
- Develops cybersecurity training slides for distribution quarterly. Ensure all users receive cybersecurity refresher training on an annual basis.
- Promptly and thoroughly investigates all network and computer security violations (unauthorized USB devices, unauthorized computer access, etc.). Gathers all details, completes reports as required, and submits to the CLIENT Government POC for forwarding to 502 CS personnel. Ensures user(s) completes all required refresher training, is fully aware of the violation, prior to regaining access to the network.
- Promptly and thoroughly investigates all classified spillage incidents on computers. Works with IT Help Desk technicians to disconnect all affected computers from the network, isolate the computer, and sanitize as required. Submit information required for reports to the CLIENT Government POC as needed.
- Ensure all IT is acquired, documented, operated, used, maintained, and disposed of properly and IAW AFMAN 17-1203.
- Implement and maintain required cybersecurity (COMSEC, COMPUSEC, and TEMPEST) countermeasures and compliance measures IAW AFI 10- 712.
