Job Summary
The Informaticist Supervisor is an integral part of the Clinical Optimization Team/Quality Department that reports to the Director of Quality in collaboration with the Chief Medical Information Officer. An Informaticist Supervisor is responsible for supervising the Informaticists within the Clinical Optimization Team. This position will also coordinate organizational projects that impact both EMR and departmental operations. The informaticist supervisor serves as a coordinator for system or organizational advisory groups, managing project tasks, tracking advisory group goals, resource assignment, etc. Oversees broad educational strategy for projects, upgrades, and updates of clinical applications. Evaluates organizational workflows to determine opportunities for efficiency and works with teams to create and implement solutions. Acts as a liaison between Information & Technology Services (ITS) and clinical practice within the organization by reporting issues and working through solutions.
What you will do
* Manages projects that impact organizational operations where EMR and clinical workflow planning/coordination is required for success. Includes assessing organizational current state, pre-deployment planning, organization of project statuses, and communication amongst all stakeholders.
* Performs full range of leadership responsibilities which include, but is not limited to; interviewing, hiring, coaching, and development of employees; managing performance and any performance issues; planning, assigning, and directing work; encourage innovation, teamwork, fiscal responsibility, high-quality work, and a positive/productive work environment. Front line management and problem solving of staffing gaps, scheduling, and performance. concerns.
* Coordinates organizational and system workgroups as delegated by the Chief Medical Information Officer. Includes researching EMR functionality, assigning appropriate resources, acting as a liaison between IT and clinical application/workflows, meeting preparation (topics, agenda, etc.)
* Responsible for organizational review of Electronic Health Records (EHR) releases/updates/upgrades to determine the impact on clinicians and workflows. Conducts testing of clinical information systems prior to upgrades and new technical build. Coordinates and collaborates with informatics team to plan for and facilitate broad education amongst the organization.
* Collaborates with IT, technical, clinical, and management teams with projects and in evaluating EMR issues. Assists in testing of upcoming changes and current system issues related to clinical workflow. Evaluates potential future applications for their technical and operational fit.
* Assists the Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) in establishing goals and plans regarding clinical applications and educational plans for the end users (by department, group, or single role).Collaborates with the CMIO to improve end user satisfaction with EHR, promote the voice of customer and improve user experience with IT systems and support.
* Troubleshoots and problem solves application, Electronic Health Records, and other software issues and works through barriers to achieve results by collaborating effectively with users and the information technology staff. Performs testing to recreate issues as well as validation of solutions. Provides prompt response and end-user support for Service Now tickets.
* Improve departmental workflows and define solutions within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or other clinical applications that have financial, quality, and clinical impact on the organization. Performs current state workflow analysis, participates in design of solutions for new requests, defines future state workflows, and acts as a subject matter expert to implement solutions for Epic and other clinical information systems.
Education Qualifications
* Associate's Degree in business, information technology, healthcare (such as CMA, LPN, RN) or related field. Required
Experience Qualifications
* 3-5 years work experience in a clinical setting within a health care organization. Required
* 3-5 years experience with Clinical Information Systems (CIS) such as EPIC, Dragon, Doc Halo, etc. Preferred

* Ability to operate a computer and to understand the language used in working with a specific system or systems
* Knowledge and understanding of how Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) and Clinical Applications are used in Clinical practice setting.

Licenses and Certifications
* Certified as an Epic Clinical Informaticist within 1 Year Required
* Certification or Coursework in Project Management or Process Improvement Preferred
