About the Job
The Information Systems Security Officer/IT Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day operations and support of classified information systems at our Kratos Defense & Rocket Support Services, Glen Burnie, MD facility. This position will augment the Information Security and Information Technology staff supporting unclassified corporate networks and systems. The collateral duties of the IT Specialist consist of but are not limited to providing technical assistance and support of related computer systems, hardware, or software. Responds to queries, runs diagnostic programs, isolates problem, and determines and implements solution. As necessary, the IT Specialist assists system administrators with maintaining all system devices.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as an Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO)/IT Specialist.
- Implement the risk management framework for classified systems, typically following the Defense Counterintelligence Security Agency (DCSA), DAAPM or JSIG process and supporting communications with cognizant security authorities.
- Serve as the primary service desk resource for classified systems.
- Produce and maintain Body of Evidence (BoE) documentation to include risk assessments, System Security Plan (SSPs) and Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms).
- Maintain the day-to-day security posture and continuous monitoring for all systems, including patching and updates.
- Assist Information Security team in unclassified security operations, including continuous monitoring, incident response, and vulnerability management.
- Assist Information Technology team in unclassified services functions.
- Monitor and resolve the company IT ticketing system for user support requests.
- Configure and update phone extensions.
- Maintain existing Active Directory accounts and groups and create accounts for new users.
- Install and update software on user workstations.
- Image and configure new workstations.
- Manage Office 365 user accounts, licenses, and services.
- Troubleshoot software, hardware, and peripheral issues, to include VTCs.
- Coordinates, diagnoses and troubleshoots incoming employee calls.
- Supports and maintains effective relationships with users.
- Developing professional expertise, applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues.
- Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.
- Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
- Builds productive internal/external working relationships.

Required Experience:
Required Experience:
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- U.S. Secret Clearance required.
- Associate degree (IT discipline preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in Information Technology (IT) in a classified environment, or 3+ years of experience as an ISSM/ISSO in government/industrial security or an intelligence career field.
- Knowledge of technical standards relating to information system security; experience administering Windows and Linux operating systems, experience with large-scale server systems, thin client architecture, system virtualization and other related peripherals.
- Experience with Certification and Authorization requirements as outlined in the NISPOM, RMF for DoD IT, ICD 503, JSIG/JAFAN & NIST RMF.
- Thorough understanding of US Government (specifically DoD) IS security policies.
- Strong communication skills, strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills; self-motivated with ability to effectively prioritize multiple projects; ability to work with people in a team environment and deal effectively with changing project priorities.
- Ability to manage time, make sound decisions, take independent action, analyze problems and provide focused solutions.
- High degree of attention to detail.
- DoDD 8140/DoD 8570 approved (Technician Level 2-3) certification required within 6 months of hire.
