Position Summary
Plans, designs, manages and upgrades server, storage and backup architecture in a complex, multi-level, wide area, critical health service environment. Sets standards for IT storage and backup infrastructure. Maintains Windows and Netware network operating systems and related tools. Maintains storage area networks and backup infrastructure. Evaluates new applications and equipment and engineers best fit for applications according to their technical requirements for best performance and protection. Develops scripts for server, SAN and software distribution. Evaluates underlying technical architecture requirements of IS and Biomedical applications. Troubleshoots application issues related to underlying server, storage, operating system, backup architecture. Studies vendor products to determine those which best meet company needs; assists in selection of LAN hardware, software and peripheral devices. Provides documentation/project tracking and management reporting. Provides strategic input on overall network planning and related projects. Manages LAN server performance and maintains security. Ensures that security procedures are implemented and enforced. Installs all network software. Troubleshoots user problems. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Associates Degree from accredited university or college in computer related discipline or equivalent experience.
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Bachelors Degree from accredited university or college in computer related discipline
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 8 years server administration and integration experience including MS Windows server suites, Citrix, desktop operating systems, storage area network/network attached/direct attached storage technology, centralized tape and other backup technology, security configurations. Demonstrated ability to think and work independently in complex and critical 24/7 technical environments. Experience with scripting and script monitoring tools.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: In-depth knowledge of Windows operating systems, standard PC architectures, LAN topologies and protocols. A solid understanding of TCP/IP, Citrix and storage area network technology. Knowledge of UNIX to include LINUX. Familiar with DBMS management as it relates to system administration and setup to include Pervasive SQL, MS SQL and Oracle products. Administrative knowledge of MS Office Suite of products and Groupwise or other communication packages. Extensive knowledge of server hardware, clustering, raid controllers, tape drives, memory setup, fibre channel and multi-processing configurations. Extensive knowledge of storage engineering to include storage area networks (SAN), network attached storage (NAS) and tape libraries. Extensive knowledge of Internet and Intranet technologies
