This is a temporary contract opportunity with The Cigna Group through Magnit, an enterprise third-party vendor for contingent work.
Overview:
- Provides expert content/professional leadership on complex Infrastructure assignments/projects.
- Serves as a technical consultant responsible for design, engineering and development of information technology solutions.
- Supports the design, analysis, development and implementation of engineering infrastructure solutions of projects and/or work requests for complex business solutions.
- Troubleshoots and proceeds on resolving infrastructure compatibility issues based on system architecture, project requirements, customer expectations, etc.
- May be involved in the creation of design specifications and the development and application of utility programs and may resolve infrastructure compatibility problems as they arise.
- Responsibilities may include risks assessments, partnering on capacity planning, budget forecasting, and the diagnosis and correction of application/network problems.
- May serve as the primary contact for vendors.
- Technologies span mainframe, midrange, desktop, server, network data, voice, messaging, web, database, and output/receiving.
- Exercises considerable creativity, foresight, and judgment in conceiving, planning, and delivering initiatives.
- Uses deep professional knowledge and acumen to advise functional leaders.
- Focuses on providing thought leadership within Infrastructure Engineering but works on broader projects, which require understanding of wider business.
- Recognized internally as a subject matter expert.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for taking on performance analysis and code optimization challenges across multiple application domains with a focus on the following objectives:
- End-to-End Performance Analysis: Analyze enterprise-level distributed environments and optimize performance bottlenecks in both our real-time data streaming and ETL warehouse application stacks.
- Capacity Planning & Optimization: Strategize capacity needs, identify trends and propose design recommendations to ensure resiliency and scalability.
- Environment Ownership: Manage and support the performance testing environment, and drive the initiatives that lead to optimal throughput and improved customer experiences.
- Automate for Performance: Design and build efficient process and automation tests for every release build.
- Developer Support: Diagnostics, reverse-engineering microservices and NeoLoad/JMeter script development to deliver performance outcomes at scale.
- BS or higher in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience
- 5+ years in a performance engineering role analyzing, troubleshooting and automating performance workloads on large scale systems
- 5+ years of experience with build automation tools utilizing CI/CD pipelines
- Deep knowledge of Java and its internal (e.g. JVM performance tuning, GC mechanisms, etc.) and familiarity with Java Profiling (e.g. JProfiler, YourKit, Glowroot)
- Outstanding attention to detail and communication skills
- Experience identifying bottlenecks across various layers of web application stacks (client, network, backend)
- Hands-on experience in load testing tools like Jmeter, Loadrunner, and other open source products
- Experience working and optimizing large scale distributed applications on hybrid cloud platforms
- Experience building frameworks and driving architecture design for testability
- Expert level understanding of the key performance metrics associated with throughput, latency, memory, CPU, disk & network and the ability to debug bottlenecks associated with any of them
- Expertise with Oracle, NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis), and SQL Server database analysis and tuning
- Thorough knowledge of OpenShift or similar experience in containerized design patterns
- Experience with Fuse, Kafka and other Red Hat products preferred
- History of migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud a plus

Education:
- Bachelor's degree in a technology related field preferred
Hourly Pay Rate Range (dependent on location, experience, expectation)
The pay range that Magnit reasonably expects to pay for this position is: $45.00/hour-$60.12/hour
