Program Details:
The Defense Enclave Services (DES) contract provides network modernization to Defense Agencies and Field Activities in a partnership with Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) to deliver a single digital enterprise that establishes a modern infrastructure foundation and unified architecture needed to deliver cohesive combat support capabilities to the warfighter.
Responsibilities:
Monitor the performance of Layer-1 infrastructure assets, including Network Control Center, Switching, Routing, Perimeter devices (firewalls), Video, VoIP, Physical Cabling (including Wireless), and VIP support.
Proactively identify and address network issues, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption to services.
Implement effective problem management processes to resolve network issues promptly and efficiently.
Analyze root causes of network failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Oversee the maintenance and upgrades of Layer-1 infrastructure components, including switches, routers, firewalls, and cabling systems.
Ensure that infrastructure assets are configured and optimized for optimal performance.
Monitor network security and implement measures to protect against threats and vulnerabilities.
Coordinate with security teams to address security incidents and implement remediation strategies.
Manage relationships with network equipment vendors and service providers.
Negotiate contracts and ensure that vendors meet service level agreements.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of network infrastructure, configurations, and procedures.
Prepare regular reports on network performance, incidents, and projects.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of relevant experience; additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
Strong understanding of Layer-1 network technologies, including Ethernet, Fiber Optics, and Wireless networks.
Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
Knowledge of network security best practices and standards.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE.
Experience with network automation and orchestration tools.
Knowledge of virtualization and cloud technologies.
DoD IAT II, ITIL foundation, PMP certifications.
Knowledge of DoD Enterprise Service Management Framework.
Possess an in-depth knowledge of DoD Enterprise IT policies and procedures.
Manage globally distributed 24x7 operations to include short-notice travel in response to emerging operational issues.

Additional Notes:
The Layer-1 Cabling Manager will report to the IT Service Delivery Manager and will work closely with other IT teams within the organization.
The role may require occasional off-hours work to support network maintenance and troubleshooting.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $87,100.00 - $157,450.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
