Why is the Injection Molding Cost Estimator important to us?
Quickparts is looking for an experienced Injection Molding Cost Estimator for a 2–3-month contract position focused on quoting injection molds and tooling.
The Injection Molding Cost Estimator will be responsible for client quoting, supplier sourcing, production planning, and supporting on-time order fulfillment.
In this role, you will:
- Analyze engineering models and drawings to define the sequence of fabrication operations to ensure design intent and component quality.
- Make accurate estimations considering materials, tooling (cavities, family molds, overmolds, gating strategies), manufacturing times, inspection times, and required equipment.
- Work with outside vendors and services to achieve the best possible prices.
- Review customer RFQs to determine material requirements, processing, and job routing.
- Communicate effectively with customers and partners to accurately define requirements and expectations.
- Create detailed quote packages for final review.
- Engage in technical discussions to support process engineers.
- Support production planning and on-time order fulfillment.
You might be a good fit if you have:
- At least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, specifically in cost estimating for injection molding.
- Proficiency in CAD and familiarity with injection mold and casting design and fabrication methods.
- Experience communicating design for manufacturability (DFM) feedback.
- Knowledge of injection molding and casting fabrication technologies.
- Understanding of gate strategies, mold-flow, single and family cavity molds, overmolding, and custom tooling.
- Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Ability to read and interpret CAD files, blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
