Injection Molding Technician
Job Purpose
The Injection Molding Technician's primary task is to provide support to manufacturing injection molding processes through machine setup, mold changes, material changes, troubleshooting, machine and mold maintenance, and process improvement. He or she will propose new methods and processes for efficiency and scrap reductions.
Qualifications:
- at least 1-3 year as a Technician
- Injections molding certification
- Operator experience a plus
- Experience identifying parameters and mold replacement
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure that the production molding machines are production ready. This includes programming, fixtures, tooling, maintenance and repair activities.
- Be the expert for each piece of equipment, know what the machines are capable of and what changes can be made to them.
- Train and support production personnel in the operation of the equipment.
- Initiate and sustain a maintenance program for all equipment and mold tools.
- Perform basic machining operations using CNC equipment.
- Ensure that any spare parts needed are available and ordered.
- Be able to work with machine vendors for training, repair and proposed improvements.
- Perform machine and product quality checks as needed.
- Assist with production as needed.
First 30 Days:
- Participate in Wavetronix onboarding
- Spend 10 days working with the manufacturing equipment in a production capacity, learning each piece and process
- Spend 2 days with incoming inspection to understand the process
- Spend 2 days with Warehouse to understand how products are stored and warehoused
- Understand and be trained to the Wavetronix system for project and task tracking (ClickUp)
- Assist in creating a tooling relocation program for all product molds
- Create a personal training program for each piece of injection mold equipment.
- Create SMART goals for the first 6 months
First 90 Days:
- Create 3 process setup documents for parts currently in manufacture.
- Initiate a relationship with each machine manufacturer and sales representative.
- Become familiar with the Wavetronix system for part numbers, prints and drawings and how to submit changes
First 6 Months:
- Create and sustain a mold tool maintenance and repair program
- Create a preventive maintenance program for each piece of equipment
- Actively upgrade injection molding skills through on-line and other training offerings
First Year and Beyond:
- Become expert in the remaining molding machines and processes
- Actively contribute to team chemistry through peer interaction and positive team contribution
- Participate in leadership development efforts
