Ashland has an exciting opportunity for an Innovation Scientist, to join our Nutraceutical business at our Totowa, New Jersey location. This is atemporary position and very significant role within the Company in the R&D dept. This position will report to theHead of Nutraceutical R&D.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Work closely with Ashland R&D dept head and senior scientists to create new and improved nutraceutical product formulations with great emphasis on innovation, quality, manufacturability, cost and organoleptic attributes.
Working as a dietary supplement scientist, personally getting involved in lab work, material sourcing and plant trialsto support new product development.
Develop and maintain extensive products and raw materials files in company database for existing and future products.
Help developingR&D specsand other data to support senior scientists and dept head.
Responsible for all relevant analytical testing completions in coordinating with Quality dept and helps interpret analytical testing results, and able to address formulation issues as needed.
Functioning as a technical solver incorporation with senior scientists as well as procurement, manufacturing, regulatory, and quality control for custom projects.
Maintain all product development related records including formulations, lab batch records, test results and equipment logbooks.
Comply with company procedural guidelines, laboratory procedures, and safety programs
In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:
B.S. inChemical engineering,Pharmaceutical sciences, Food Engineering,Food Technology, Food Science, or similar.
1-2 years prior experience indietary supplements or similar field preferred
Proficientcomputer skills including nutritional database, spreadsheet, word and analysis of data, formulas, supplement facts, and specifications.
Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to work in physically challenging environment: lift 10 pounds and move up to 25 pounds when working with bulk ingredients, operate pilot scale equipment
Be authorized to work in the United States
The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:
Knowledge of dietary supplement, functional food and nutritional ingredient functionality, a plus
Proven self-starter with urgency for delivering results
Team player with excellent communication skills
Knowledge of GMP manufacturing is a plus
