This is an exciting opportunity to be a crucial member of a team of lead installers responsible for the installation of overhead cranes, conveyor systems, dock equipment, racking and other material handling systems. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints and layout drawings
- Read and follow installation instructions for various material handling systems with a focus on overhead cranes, conveyors, pallet racking and other lifting equipment.
- Dismantles machines, moves machinery and equipment
- Ensure installation projects meet both customer expectations and design requirements.
- Document service and installation by completing forms, reports, and inspection checklists.
- May also need to work with customers on site to trouble shoot, repair or service material handling systems.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma/(GED) and vocational training in related field.
- Previous Mechanical and/or Construction experience required
- Relevant knowledge or warehousing/distribution, pallet rack design, material handling equipment etc.
Qualifications:
- Perform the installation process abiding by all OSHA, DOT and site-specific safety precautions.
- Must have a mechanical aptitude along with basic welding and fabrication skills.
- SMAW Stick Welding Certified.
- Knowledge and ability to properly utilize a variety of hand and power tools.
- Comply with all safety rules and regulations both within the company premises as well as on customer’s jobsites, including client specific on-site training.
- Utilize sound decision making and problem solving practices.
- Has experience with rigging and lifting equipment with cranes, forklifts, telehandler, etc.
- Proper and safe use of company vehicle, comfortable towing and backing up trailers as well securing loads with chains or straps as necessary.
- Work efficiently with others.
- Quick comprehension, flexible and punctual.
- High standard of quality and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently with limited direct supervision after training.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with team members, customers, vendors and subcontractors.
- Maintain work area and vehicle in clean and orderly condition.
- Willingness to travel if necessary and work occasional overtime hours.
- Maintain and strengthen customer relationships by acting professionally and as a representation of Hoj.
- Act as a mentor to other installers to ensure consistency in field installations.
- Additional responsibilities, as assigned.
- Must have a valid drivers’ license with a good driving record. All personnel will be governed by DOT rules when operating company vehicles.
- Must be able to pass background checks and random drug screenings.
- Positive attitude and ability to comply with company policies and procedures.
Physical Requirements:
- Capable to comfortably work at heights on scissor lift, ladders, scaffolding, etc.
- Must be able to stand and work for long hours with necessary tools and PPE.
- Able to perform physical labor including lifting/moving heavy objects up to 100 lbs., prolonged standing, sitting, bending, pulling, pushing, kneeling and reaching.
- Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in various year-round weather conditions.
