Talascend is currently seeking an Installation Technician for a contract opportunity located in Vista, CA
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Traveling to customer sites to perform installation, troubleshooting and repair of complex equipment and systems
Support Engineering activities during Factory Acceptance testing
Support Manufacturing activities when not on travel
Performing inventory of site Parts/equipment and tools to ensure accuracy prior to system installations
Supporting Customers during Site Acceptance Testing
Executing all task assigned by the team leader or manager diligently and on schedule
Working with team members to achieve success during installations of equipment and systems
Isolating equipment start-up malfunctions and taking corrective action
Performing ad-hoc and predetermined work assignments with instructions
Following all established guidelines, procedures, and policies
Installs and commissions Mid-Energy Portals (MEP) and Low Energy Portals (LEP), IP6500 Vehicle and Cargo Inspection Systems (VACIS) and Exploranium, Radiation Portal Monitor (RPM) systems
Performs a variety of technical support on products such as equipment, integrated systems and subsystems, and software at customer and/or factory locations
May be called upon to work on equipment that has little or no documentation or training
Meets weekly project installation goals within required deadlines
Support Engineering activites during Factory Acceptance testing
Ensures that tools and test equipment are properly maintained and calibrated
Working with team members to achieve success during installations of equipment and systems
Maintains clear and concise business communication proficiency, both oral and written
Travel, overtime and work hours other than Monday-Friday may be required
Troubleshoots and diagnoses malfunctions to eliminate problem in minimum time
Performing ad-hoc and predetermined work assignments with instructions
Maintains effective customer communications and relations.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Related Trade experience (electrical, mechanical)/ Military Training in electrical/electronic and mechanical systems
(Equivalence achieved through comparative work and life experience of 2 years of electrical or mechanical field service experience)
Minimum of 2 years experience directly involved in troubleshooting and repair of Field electrical and electronic systems and equipment
Prior knowledge of X-ray equipment and systems a plus
Individuals shall possess excellent communications skills and have a strong orientation for teamwork
Must be willing and able to travel on short notice
Job requires frequent bending, stooping, twisting, turning, and working in unusual positions requiring full body mobility
Must be able to work safely and follow safety precautions in extreme environments (temperature, humidity, noise, confined spaces, etc.) around dangerous industrial equipment
Ability to interpret electrical drawings and schematics
Able to lift 50 lbs
90% Travel required
Ability to multi-task, work accurately and with attention to detail in a Field Service environment
Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, system manuals and technical directives for troubleshooting purposes
Must be able to obtain a US Passport in order to support OCONUS travel
Willing to work on challenging international projects for short durations
Work well with peers from various backgrounds to build effective work relationships
Must be able to work outdoors and in all types of weather conditions
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Computer literacy; competency in use of all programs within MS Office Suite and aptitude for learning specialized software programs
Working knowledge of x-ray and/or CT technologies
Network installation and configuration is a plus
PLC experience is a plus
Previous field electrical assembly experience
Certified forklift and aerial lift operator
Experience with rigging and material handling
Basic understating of OSHA standards and practices
Software integration with electric/mechanical equipment
Previous hands on project management is a plus
Bilingual language skills (Spanish) a plus
