Position Summary:
Assist teacher with monitoring elementary school physical education classes and facilitating elementary students’ learning math, reading, and writing.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Must be a high school graduate or hold a General Educational Development (GED) certificate
- Have experience working with students or parents as approved by the employing superintendent
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
- Must have a passion for students and classical liberal arts education.
- Ability and patience to work interactively with children, especially K-5th grade students.
- Must be able to model and promote virtue.
- Basic knowledge of federal and state education laws.
- Computer literacy.
- Must have strong organizational, time management, verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Must have the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
- Must have the ability to communicate with all levels of students, their parents, peers, campus administration, superintendents, and corporate staff.
- Must have the ability to interpret policy, procedures, and student data such as diagnostic test results.
- Must have the ability to adapt to change.
- Must have the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist Teacher or Coordinator in all areas of work.
- Assist with understanding assessments
- Implement instructional program and lesson plans under the Teacher or Administrator
- Help maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment by managing students' behavior.
- Help students understand lessons and monitor their progress. Provide feedback to faculty, staff, and parents as needed.
- Help with playground activities, lunchroom, and recess.
- Monitor and assist students in getting to and from their classroom, playground, gymnasium, cafeteria, and other settings as needed.
- Assist the teachers in preparations including copying and distributing materials planned by the teacher.
- Perform special projects, during and after normal business hours, and other duties as assigned.
- Serve as substitute teacher when necessary
- Assist with after school carline duty
- Participate in educational conferences, faculty meetings, and professional development.
- Perform miscellaneous duties assigned by supervisor.
- All other duties as assigned by supervisor.
