Instructional Assistant/bus aide - United Cerebral Palsy Associations Inc

SUMMARY:
Works under direct supervision of program management to provide functional skills training and personal care to customers with disabilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED with a preference given to persons who have experience working in day or residential programs serving persons with disabilities.
Language Ability: Must possess ability to read, write and understand English. Strong oral and written communication skills are a must. Must be able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions from supervisor.
Math Ability: Knowledge and ability to work with basic mathematical concepts.
Computer Skills: Must have working knowledge of personal computers. (Highly desirable)
Driving Skills: Must possess a valid CDL, provide proof of auto liability insurance and have clean driving record.

DUTIES:
ï‚· Provides group and one-to-one instruction daily
ï‚· Provide direct personal care (including bathroom duties) as needed
ï‚· Assist in application of behavioral management techniques as specified in instructional plans
ï‚· Record data daily regarding customer's progress towards meeting Individual Service Plan (ISP) objectives
ï‚· Maintain classroom equipment
ï‚· Provide general clean-up for facility
ï‚· Assist with and meet Community Care Licensing regulations (Title 22 & DDS regs. Title 17)
ï‚· Develop and maintain good rapport with customers, staff, and stakeholders
ï‚· Provide customer transportation before, during and after program in a UCP vehicle
ï‚· Must be able to render emergency services when necessary
ï‚· Provide input to supervisor(s) regarding the development of ISP objectives
ï‚· Participate in customer meetings as needed
ï‚· Attend required agency meetings and training as requested by Program Manager or designee
ï‚· Perform other duties as assigned

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
ï‚· Must be at least 18 years of age
ï‚· Must have fingerprint clearance and criminal record statement completed
ï‚· Must have health screening and tuberculosis test within 12 months prior to employment or within 7 days after employment has begun
ï‚· Shall complete a minimum of 8 hours of Continuing Education Units per year
ï‚· Must maintain certification in CPI, an approved Behavioral Management course
ï‚· Shall have valid Water Safety Certification if supervising customers using a pool or other body of water from which rescue requires the rescuer's ability to swim
