Position Description:

Full-time, grant-funded, nine-months/year. Collaborates with faculty, programs, career services, and other areas of the college to design and develop high-quality course content in alignment with instructional design and pedagogical best practices that promotes student engagement and instructor-student, student-student, and student-content interactions.

Essential Functions:

1. Work closely with faculty and programs in the design of high-quality course content in alignment with instructional design and pedagogical best practices.
2. Collaborate with faculty, programs, and career services to integrate soft-skill and employability skill development into course and program curriculum.
3. Provide training and faculty support on pedagogy, course design principles, and accessibility standards.
4. Assist faculty in defining course and module learning outcomes, and developing learning content, activities and assessments that are accessible to all students.
5. Apply accessibility, Universal Design for Learning, Community of Inquiry, and other frameworks and standards to course design projects.
6. Support the director in completion tracking and documentation of course design projects.
7. Direct faculty to the Coordinator of Academic Technology Support for technology training as needed.
8. Assist the director with faculty training and support as it relates to online course quality.
9. Assist with quality reviews of distance education courses using the quality review rubric adopted by the college.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required: Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, education, or a related field. At least two years of experience in instructional design support for faculty or related experience. Familiarity with various methods of teaching. Knowledge of instructional delivery platforms/programs, applications, and authoring tools. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Windows. Excellent interpersonal skills and written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated organizational and managerial skills, and attention to detail and accuracy. Commitment to providing excellent customer service.

Preferred: Master’s degree in relevant area. Higher education experience in two or more: development and delivery of instruction for in-person and distance modalities, instructional design support for faculty, quality reviews of online courses, and project management.

Additional Information:

Salary: $25.65 - $32.19/hour. Excellent benefits package, including medical and dental insurance, paid vacation and sick leave, and NYS retirement.
