BASIC FUNCTION:
Under daily direction of a special education teacher or credentialed school nurse and general supervision of the school principal or designee, provides health and instructional assistance in both the classroom and off-campus areas to special education students who may have one or more orthopedic, learning, emotional and health-related disability.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
The classification of Instructional Health Assistant – Special Education is distinguished from the other Instructional Assistants classification in that it provides health and instructional assistance to students with multiple disabilities. This position is required to assist special education teachers and credentialed school nurse in providing health assistance to students.
