PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Primary role is to support the implementation of the mathematics curriculum at the campus level by assisting teachers and students with instructional needs that will positively impact student success.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Master’s degree from accredited university with a major in assigned subject preferred
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject assigned
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of Tomball ISD math curriculum and state standards for math
A comprehensive understanding and working knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Strong classroom instructional and management skills and the ability to coach others in the
development of these skills
Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
Experience:
Five years teaching experience in subject area assigned
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Work closely with teachers to facilitate use of preferred instructional practices, including classroom visits to observe, model, coach, and provide feedback.
Plan with teachers and teacher teams at the building level to ensure a full implementation of the Tomball ISD math curriculum.
Provide small group support for students needing interventions in mathematics.
Provide input to the Problem Solving Team regarding mathematics interventions and resources.
Obtain and use evaluative findings (including student achievement data) to examine curriculum and instruction program effectiveness for math.
Monitor the progress of students receiving mathematics interventions.
Participate in the planning and presenting of mathematics professional development at the campus/district level.
Serve on the district curriculum teams.
Attend regularly scheduled district-wide math specialist meetings.
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
- Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies.
- Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
- Other duties as assigned.
