This role is at a Dairy Foods manufacturing facility for Land O'Lakes, creating dairy products that stand for real, simple goodness. The Controls Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair in support of the facility and production equipment. In this role, the technician will work with a variety of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems and controls. Superior logical-thinking and troubleshooting skills are critical. This position is critical to the safe and efficient operation of the facility.
HOURS: Night Shift; 6 PM - 6 AM on a 2-2-3 schedule
Pay: Starting at $35.20/ hour
BONUS:
$400 bonus after completing 90 day probationary period
$600 bonus after completing 6 months of employment
$1,000 bonus after completing 1 year of employment
Total of $2,000 bonusEDUCATION:
• High School Diploma or GED required, Associate Degree preferred.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
• 3-5 years' experience in industrial manufacturing maintenance
• Experience with basic electrical systems, compressors, welding, ammonia systems, conveyers, gearing, hydraulics, packaging, PLC, pneumatics, preventive maintenance, and pumps.
• Prior diagnostic, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance experience
• Working knowledge of Programmable Logic Control (PLC) with the ability to write basic code and troubleshoot equipment issues using program logic.
• Industrial Network and switch experience to include Ethernet controls
• Electrical troubleshooting skills a must with experience on 24vac, 24vdc, 110vac, up to 480vac three phase.
• VFD programing and troubleshooting skills
• Experience with set up and calibration of various instruments including flowmeters, conductivity sensors, level sensors, and temperature sensors.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• 18 years or older
• Some experience with mechanical systems, utilizing product manuals, troubleshooting mechanical breakdowns, and reading mechanical drawings.
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to follow manufacturer's specifications and direction
• Ability to demonstrate knowledge in their functions and ability to troubleshoot and fix system issues is preferred
• Self-reliant and able to accurately work under limited supervision
• Ensures a safe working environment while performing assigned tasks
• Communicates work order progress to supervisor and production operators
• Customer focused and able to work in a collaborative team
• Ability to be flexible in work performed and schedulePREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
• Previous experience in a high-speed industrial work environment

MAINTENANCE:
• Instrumental in implementing and maintaining the Preventative maintenance Program of all instrument controls systems and components.
• Determine by regular inspections the maintenance and repair work necessary to prevent breakdowns and major overhauls on instrument controls system and components.
• Implements and carries out proper procedures for troubleshooting of controls systems ensuring that all equipment is expediently repaired to minimize down time and improve the overall operation efficiency of the plant.
• Instruct maintenance mechanics as to proper procedures for troubleshooting and basic repair of controls systems.
• Repair, calibrate, adjust and set equipment. Remove and install parts in accordance with trade practice and manufacturer/company specifications.
• Carry out maintenance work orders as directed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
INSTALLATIONS AND PROJECTS:
• Perform new equipment installations as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor or the Maintenance Manager.
CRAFT SKILLS:Carry out craft skills appropriate with the job including;
• a. Maintenance Mechanic job description craft skills.
• b. General instrumentation principles and maintenance techniques.
• c. Maintenance of specific Foxboro, Taylor, Alfa-Laval, Partlow, Endress Hauser, Triclover and other instrumentation products.Work from detailed drawings, prints, wiring diagrams, control loops as the need arises and use measuring instruments as prescribed by good instrument engineering practices.
Stay abreast of changes in instrumentation principles, procedures, and techniques.ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Working in a manufacturing or warehouse environment, you will be walking, standing and engaging in movement throughout the day, and occasionally to frequently be required to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. Due to a large variety of job duties (both routine and non-routine), certain duties also may involve, a variety of physical activities including bending, lifting, stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms above shoulders and head, standing, working in enclosed areas, climbing stairs or ladders, and operating heavy machinery. The noise level in the work environment can vary but noise is usually low to moderate.At times, you may be required to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety gloves, hearing protection, a respirator or dust mask, protective footwear and protective clothing or uniforms. Work may be performed in cold and/or hot temperatures and the environment can be dusty. Physical requirements further include the ability to engage in productive and collaborative communication with co-workers and work may need to be performed during non-standard hours, including nights and weekends. At times, the ability to work overtime also may be required. The ability to perform these requirements is necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
