About the Job
Koch Fertilizer, LLC is seeking a dedicated and skilled IC&E (Instrumentation, Controls & Electrical) Technician to join our team. This role involves the support and maintenance of field instrumentation, analytical systems, and monitoring systems to ensure optimal functionality of our operations.
What You Will Do
- Instrumentation and Control Systems: Conduct inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and replacement of final control elements. Perform mechanical repairs, calibration, and stroke testing.
- Commissioning and Startup: Engage in instrument loop inspection, loop checks, configuration, calibration, and testing. Handle the mechanical installation, function checking, and stroke testing of final control elements.
- Analytical Equipment: Troubleshoot, calibrate, and document analytical equipment used in monitoring and supervisory systems
- DCS, SIS, and PLC Systems Support: Maintain and support distributed control systems (DCS), safety instrumented systems (SIS), and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
- Documentation: Update and create documentation for plant-specific maintenance tasks, including calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures. Update and maintain plant instrument scope P&IDs, wiring diagrams, loop diagrams, cable schedules, and instrument lists.
- Safety and Compliance: Adhere to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and Management of Change (MOC) procedures.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Completion of a 4-year apprenticeship or an associate degree in Industrial Instrumentation and Controls or a related field, or 2 years of experience in an IC&E or similar role.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Bending, kneeling, lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Wearing a respirator when/where required to perform inspections/job duties.
- Noise levels may require hearing protection.
- Ability to climb straight ladders. Some work may require heights in excess of 100 feet.
- Confined space entry may be required.
- Wearing hearing protection within high level noise areas as required.
What Will Put You Ahead
- Experience with process analytical equipment.
- Experience working with control valves actuators, positioners, feedback, smart positioners, and solenoids.
- Experience with Smart transmitters, sensing elements, transducers, and transmitters.
- Experience in calibrating, configuring and repairing measurement/control instruments.
- Knowledge of DCS & PLC control systems hardware, electrical motor controls, and VFDs.
- Knowledge of Motor Starters, MCCs, VFD, 4,160 volt and 480-volt three phase systems.
- Familiar with HART communication protocols, IEC standards, and ISA standards
- Familiar with electrical and process Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO).
