We are developing the future of Army Aviation with the Bell Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) part of the US Army’s Future Vertical Lift (FVL) modernization effort. We are also developing the Bell 525 Relentless and Bell's High-Speed Vertical Take-Off and Landing (HSVTOL) program, a next generation stop-fold aircraft.
This position is onsite in Fort Worth, TX.
Instrumentation Engineer:
Work with some of the most innovative and talented teams to test and validate anything from complex systems to individual aircraft components. As an Instrumentation engineer you will be required to perform these tests with equipment that will provide data traceable to the National Institute of Standards. At Bell you will work with suppliers and programs, to test mission requirements with the latest technology and modular architectures.
Bring your experience and ideas and help us test the aircraft components of the future in our world class test facilities. You will be setting up the testing and capturing data from many different types of sensors, with various systems we use to capture Test Data.We work with data systems developed internally and commercially to provide our programs the information they need to make crucial decisions.These include fatigue test, static test, wind tunnel, ballistic testing, and many others.
You’ll work with engineers from various groups and technicians to test the next generation of aircraft systems.This role will be an integral part of the team, working closely with programs both internal and external. You’ll be able to hone your technical abilities on significant engineering problems, all while gaining experience in leadership and communication.
What You’ll Be Doing as an Instrumentation Engineer:
+ Working with our programs to help them specify the testing they need, traceability management; validation and verification of their testing requirements; interface management; system safety tracing.In addition to validation and verification testing in our structural & fatigue test labs; and aircraft model test.
+ Test article per customer requirements and MIL Standards. Develop test cases and procedures as required to fulfill these test requirements.
+ Evaluation of test articles within a set test schedule. Work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams to define and solve problems as they arise during test and evaluation of the integrated systems.
+ Develop custom interfaces and/or signal conditioning as needed to perform the testing set out by the test requirements.
Qualifications
Skills You Bring To this Role:
+ Experience installing sensors (thermocouples, pressure transducers, strain gages, etc) and taking measurements in a laboratory test environment.
+ Experience with the Electronic measurement equipment such as DVM’s, Oscilloscopes, Function generators and hand tools.
+ LabView development knowledge is a plus.
+ Knowledge of communication standards such as ARINC 429, RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, MIL-1553 and Networking (TCP/IP, TSN, DDS).
+ Experience with a drafting or CAD package such as AutoCAD or Catia would be helpful.
What You Need to Be Successful:
+ Bachelor’s degree with a Major in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering with a controls emphasis, or similar STEM degree.
+ 2 years of experience in instrumentation engineering
+ Some travel is required to support projects
+ This is a professional position in a mechanical test lab that sometimes requires working on scaffolding or other places where a level of fitness is needed to work safely.
