Job Details
As an Insurance Defense Attorney, you will be responsible for managing a caseload from start to finish, overseeing all aspects of file handling and deposition. Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
1. Providing expert legal defense in a variety of insurance claims, including personal injury, property damage, worker's compensation, and construction defect.
2. Managing all aspects of litigation, including discovery, trial preparation, court appearances, jury trials, and mediation.
3. Conducting thorough and detailed investigations into claims, including interviewing witnesses, reviewing medical records, and analyzing case law.
4. Drafting and reviewing legal documents, such as pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
5. Collaborating with clients, claim professionals, underwriting, risk management, and other attorneys in our firm to ensure a coordinated and effective defense strategy.
6. Keeping clients informed of case progress and legal developments, advising clients on legal risks and strategies, and maintaining strong client relationships.
To be considered for this role, you must possess the following qualifications:
1. Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
2. Admission to the Illinois state bar and in good standing.
3. Minimum of 3 years of experience in insurance defense litigation
4. Proven track record of successfully defending insurance claims in court.
5. Excellent negotiation, communication, and advocacy skills.
6. High level of professionalism and ethical standards.
7. Ability to manage a high volume of cases and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
8. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and make sound legal judgments.
9. Proficiency in legal research and writing.
10. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
