HyperLight is a venture-backed startup spun off from Harvard University in 2018 based on discoveries that enabled thin-film lithium niobate (TFLN) photonics. Our photonic integrated circuits offer exceptional performance unmatched by other materials and are manufactured at high volume and low cost. We design and manufacture tailored chips to customers around the world for optical communications, sensing, and emerging photonic technologies like quantum computing and AR/VR. We partner with our customers from conceptualization to mass production to deliver new regimes of system performance.
Our growing team is looking for an Integrated Photonics Applications Engineer. This position offers a unique opportunity to participate in both technical and sales activities of our integrated photonics products business. This key hire will be the driving force of product R&D and the project owner for high profile customers, responsible for ensuring products meet their challenging specs. The person in this position will be a key contributor to design and manufacturing processes, and an excellent problem solver, providing essential support to guide customers to the best solutions for their applications and experiments.

Responsibilities:
- Measurement and testing of products to ensure that products meet specs or exceed customer expectations
- Provide technical support to customers
- Drive the R&D to improve product performance such as optical, RF, electro-optical performance
- Understand customer technical need
- Dedicated point of contact for the customer
- Support Marketing and Sales activities
Requirements:
- Ph.D. in a Photonics related field such as Physics, Optics, Engineering
- Experience with integrated photonics and radio frequency testing
- Experience with electro-optical modulator is a plus
- Strong written & oral commination skills
- Ability to work under time constraints
- Desire to deliver innovative products to market
- Ability to solve problems in new and/or ambiguous scenarios
- Keen customer focus
Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is in-person.
