About the Job
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Set up, calibrate, check out and operate the Interferometer
- Assist in defining and documenting the Interferometer operation tools and procedures
- Analyze applicable data to evaluate operations, processes and products
- Evaluate procedures and recommend changes or modifications for efficiency and adaptability to production
- Verify conformance of finished workpiece to specifications
- Confer with engineers, production personnel or others to resolve issues
- Maintain safe, clean, orderly and organized work areas
- Accurate and timely completion and organization of required paperwork
- Perform all other duties, as assigned
Education & Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- 2+ years of experience in quality inspection or metrology
- Previous experience operating complex scientific instrumentation such as interferometers or microscopes
- Technical training a plus
- Experience with precision measuring equipment, clean room operations, interferometer equipment or optical CMMs highly desirable
- Experience with lapping equipment desirable
- Experience with precision measurement methods and systems
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and process procedures
- Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and procedures closely while offering suggestions for continuous improvement
- Experience with networked PC based computer system (spreadsheets, Email, MRP systems)
Skills
- Basic reading and math skills
- Good manual dexterity and fine motor skills - able to manipulate small components
- Clean and organized (will work in a clean room environment)
- Patient and conscientious
- Metrology: Must be skilled in the use of hand and electronic gauging (inspection less than .0001 inches) and other electronic equipment
- Experience with manufacturing process improvement initiatives
- Related experience in high-precision R&D/manufacturing environment
- Hands-on individual with keen interest in position with varied tasks
- Goal oriented with a proven record of getting work done on time
- High mechanical and mathematical aptitude
- Experience with use of various measuring tools
- Experience with process improvement initiatives
Physical Requirements
- Able to frequently lift/push/pull objects that are 25 pounds, or lighter, repeatedly
- Able to sit, stand, bend, squat and walk about the facility
- Walking/standing a minimum of eight (8) hours per day
