Scientific Adventures for Girls (SAfG) is seeking an experienced Afterschool TK-6th STEM Program Manager to lead our STEM programs that engage elementary-aged girls in hands-on STEM activities. This is full-time, hybrid, interim position for approximately 7 months, covering for a staff member who will be on maternity leave. This position will manage both our teaching staff and our programs.

Position Summary:
The Interim Afterschool TK-6th STEM Program Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of our STEM programs, ensuring that they are executed with excellence and meet the Gold Standard. This role requires strong strategic planning, problem-solving skills, and the ability to effectively manage and develop a high-performing teaching team. This can be a fast-paced environment at times, so need to be flexible, adaptable and pivot easily. The Interim Program Manager will ensure that all programming runs smoothly and continues to deliver high-quality experiences for participants.
Salary: $35 - $37 per hour
Dates: Ideal start date October 21, 2024 and end date May 31, 2025 (but with some flexibility).

Key Responsibilities:
- Program Oversight:
- Manage and oversee the execution of all STEM programming, including the 27-week afterschool program, Spring Break session, External Trainings, and Family STEAM Nights.
- Teach at two of the school sites in the afternoons.
- Ensure that each program is delivered with a high level of quality and adherence to organizational standards.
- Address and resolve any issues or challenges that arise during the course of the programs.
- Be able to pivot quickly and step in to support on all levels when needed.
- Team Management:
- Supervise and support the teaching team, including Head Teachers, Teaching Assistants, Near Peers, and Volunteers.
- Ensure that all team members are well-prepared and equipped to deliver exceptional instruction and engagement in every class.
- Provide guidance and support to the team to maintain a collaborative and effective working environment.
- Conduct weekly classroom observations and provide feedback to teaching staff to elevate and create a Gold Standard classroom environment.
- Planning and Execution:
- Implement strategic plans for program delivery and improvement, in alignment with organizational goals.
- Monitor and assess program performance, providing teaching staff with recommendations for enhancements and adjustments as needed.
- Step in to serve as substitute Head Teacher or Teaching Assistant when no other sub can be sourced.
- Administrative and Reporting Duties:
- Manage program schedules, resources, ensuring efficient and effective use.
- Collect and analyze program data, preparing reports for senior leadership to inform decision-making and strategic planning.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including participants, families, and partners.
- Connect with Site Coordinators on any major issues or concerns that may arise.
- Serve as part of the leadership team and ensure staff goals and deadlines are met.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, STEM, Nonprofit Management, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- MUST HAVE at least 8 years of teaching experience and 5 years experience in related program management, particularly in STEM education.
- 4 years experience managing people.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, team management, and program evaluation.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Possess a valid driver's license and a reliable car.
- Be able to lift 40 lbs and transport STEM supplies to and from off-site.
- Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic educational environment.
- Are solution-oriented, energetic, and detail-oriented.
- Preference will be given to candidates who have a background in STEM.
