About the Job
Kohelet Yeshiva High School, a private Modern Orthodox Jewish High School in Lower Merion, PA, seeks a temporary part-time Guidance Counselor for around mid-November through January of the 2024-2025 School year.
The interim part-time Counselor will be responsible for providing social and emotional support and counseling services to high school students, working closely with and reporting to the Director of Guidance and Student Support. Responsibilities will include individual and small group meetings with students as well as consulting with teachers about implementing personalized plans developed to provide support for students. The interim part-time Counselor will work with the Director of Guidance and Student Support to help ensure the emotional and behavioral needs of our students are being met, will also act as a liaison with any other mental health professionals servicing a student and will serve as a member of the school’s Student Support Team. The interim counselor will also be responsible for an “advisory group” of 9th grade girls. Those responsibilities include leading weekly discussions about SEL topics during advisory periods and being a point-person within the school for those students’ wellbeing. Other duties may be assigned in consultation with the Director of Guidance and Student Support and the school administration.

The ideal candidate :
Has a Master’s degree social work, counseling, or a related mental health field and related licensing
Has experience working directly with high school-aged children
Has a deep commitment to seeing the whole child and comprehensively assessing their strengths, challenges, and needs
Possesses outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
Is organized, efficient, punctual, and reliable
Is kind, warm, and committed to collaboration
