Position Profile:
The primary role of the Interior Designer is to manage all aspects of model home design, from conception to completion for a national homebuilder. This position requires someone with high-energy and a passion for all things residential design. The successful candidate must be professional, organized, efficient, and ambitious, as well as creative. This role will work on multiple projects at a time in various phases while balancing priorities and schedule changes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the production workflow of multiple drawings and projects at the same time from various markets.
- Proven experience in Interior Design, materials and fixture specification, client presentation, and interior finishing details.
- Develop concepts and designs that highlight the architectural features of the space plan, create presentations, and select finishes.
- Draw plans, elevations and architectural details that illustrate the design intent and use of materials.
- Select and purchase furnishings, accessories, and soft goods for all projects.
- Lead install team onsite to complete the project to your design standards.
- Work with design team to adhere to and meet design schedules.
- Staying current on design trends through exploration of new projects and designs.
- Participate in the development and maintenance of the project standards library.
- Candidate must have a keen eye for details, ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines consistently.
- Ability to self-check own work for completeness, accuracy, and meeting company standards.
- Must be self-motivated and able to manage workflow for the week by oneself.
- Travel frequently to our divisions to install model homes as well as packing and preparing for said installs.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Minimum 5 years work experience, preferably in the model home design/merchandising industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in fine arts/ interior design or similar field required.
- Candidate should be proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft/Adobe Suite.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized with attention to detail & eye for quality execution.
- Demonstrates strong effective relationship building with internal and external partners.
- Ability to multi-task and work independently as well as collaboratively without compromising quality of work or project deadlines.
- Thrives in a fast-paced work environment and a willingness to adapt to changes.
Typical Physical and Mental Demands:
- Must be able to read, write, and speak fluently in English.
- Employees in this position are required to be able to hear and have vision sufficient to utilize all office equipment.
- Use of hands and fingers is required to utilize standard office equipment.
- This job requires frequent travel and overnight stays. Travel is mostly Tuesday – Thursday, but it can vary. Travel could be consecutive weeks at a time depending on the needs of the divisions. Model travel can be postposed last minute depending on construction delays. Flexible with travel schedule and ability to travel frequently, if needed.
- This job requires physical work; applicant must be able to lift 20 lbs.

Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a typical office environment using standard office equipment. Work is typically sedentary in nature, but some walking and standing may be required. Fast paced environment subject to numerous schedule and priority change and short notice activity. Additionally, when assisting on model home installs it requires air travel and overnight stays. This portion of the job is physical, typically 10,000 – 15,000 steps in a day, and involves long days.
