Job Description
The Decontamination & Decommissioning (D&D) Decommissioning Services (DS) unit is looking for a motivated Engineer to join our team working on legacy liability reduction at the Knolls Site in Niskayuna, NY. DS's role is to provide technical support, review and coordination between DOE-Environmental Management (EM), NRLFO and the Knolls Laboratory organizations for radiological remediation, decommissioning and environmental restoration activities at DOE-EM areas at the Knolls Laboratory. The selected individual for this role will have the opportunity to be a key contributor in providing support for the development and or follow of programs to ensure conformance with agreements between external organizations. In addition, you may be responsible for or provide backup to project manage, communicate and team with Knolls Laboratory support organizations to ensure plant conditions are established for D&D operations at the Knolls Laboratory Site, technical review and comment resolution of requests and monitoring.
Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill
Preferred Skills
- Experience with D&D, radiological or environmental compliance activities
- Working knowledge of Federal, State and/or local environmental regulations
- Experience interfacing with outside agencies (contractors) and regulatory agencies (e.g., EPA, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, etc.)
- Ability to provide influence and achieve results
- Demonstrate application of project management
- Ability to critically self-assess and apply and share lessons

Pay Range

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation.
