ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Asset Management Intern role will primarily involve placements with our participating attorneys for loan deficiencies. Works closely with the Asset Management team as well as attorneys. This position will provide an opportunity to understand loan contracts, simple interest loans, deficiency balances and collection practices. Training will involve usage of collection software and DNA.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Reviews and organizes charged off loan files with deficiency balances for potential placements.
- Compiles approved files and appropriate paperwork to forward to attorneys.
- Responds to inquiries from collection agencies and attorney firms and escalates complex matters to other team members.
- Documents the collection system with updates on active files.
- Creates and maintains Excel spreadsheets on eligible loan placements.
- Assists the department in other collection related activities as assigned by the Asset Management team members, Asset Management Supervisor or VP, Asset Management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
High School or GED equivalent required. A candidate for a BA/BS degree in Accounting or Finance or other related major preferred.
Experience/Skills/Knowledge:
- Must be proficient in multitasking, organization, attention to detail and problem solving.
- Must be able to focus in an open department setting.
- Must have good telephone, oral, written communication, and interpersonal skills in order to effectively perform job responsibilities.
- Must have strong service orientation in alignment with the Credit Union's mission and core values.
- Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills required. Other BI applications are a plus.
- Must have the ability to lift file boxes up to 25lbs.
