Basic Function
Under close and frequent supervision, assists Engineers by performing routine engineering assignments for the Engineering Department
Job Duties
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: (functions considered essential as defined by ADA)
May be required to do some or all of the following:
Coordinates project assignments with those of other engineers and technicians in his/her discipline group
Performs engineering design calculations, sketches, technical comparisons and similar technical work as required by assignment
Conducts research to develop new and improved chemical manufacturing processes
Assists design and plans layout for chemical processes on a commercial scale
Investigates most effective arrangement of operations, such as mixing, crushing, heat transfer distillation, oxidation, hydrogenation, and polymerization
Implements processing methods and controls to meet quality standards in the most cost efficient manner
Reviews engineering drawings and recommends necessary changes
Researches code issues and works with City, State, and County officials
Generates construction P & IDs
Researches design options and documents findings for Project Engineers and/or Engineering Managers
Surveys construction areas to plan equipment and piping layout
Assists with other duties assigned by Project Engineers and/or Engineering Managers
Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their manager, as determined from timeto time in their sole and complete discretion

Education Level
Some completed courses needed for a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or related field are required.
PREFERRED EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:
Completion of Junior level engineering courses is preferred.
Required Skills
Basic knowledge of commonly used engineering concepts and ability to apply this knowledge analytically. Basic ability to stay abreast of new technology developments and processes is essential. Basic knowledge of Microsoft products
PREFERRED SKILLS:
Experience with engineering software is preferred.

Physical Requirements
Job conditions require standing, walking, sitting, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, lifting or carrying up to 50 lbs, climbing up to 200 ft, perceive color differences, required to wear personal protective equipment as needed and a respirator in emergency situations (beards are not permitted).Depending on location must satisfactorily complete a comprehensive medical physical examination. Job conditions may require twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching or grasping, and working in confined spaces as permitted.
