About the Job
Design and Analysis: Assist in the design and analysis of optical systems and laboratory experiment setups, including selection of parts and equipment to support design goals.
Laboratory Experiments: Assist optical and mechanical engineers in building and optimizing laboratory experiments, including assembly and alignments of lasers, lenses, mirrors, and other optical/electrical/mechanical components. Conduct experiments and use laboratory instruments to make measurements. Use software tools to analyze and document results.
Education & Experience
Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in optical engineering, physics, electrical engineering, or a related field.
Skills
- Completed college-level coursework in optics and/or laser design
- Proficient using office collaboration tools (such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, Teams)
- Experience with mathematical modeling software (such as MATLAB) is desired
- Experience using optical design software tools (such as Zemax) is a plus
- Experience with mechanical modeling software (such as SolidWorks) is a plus
