Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities:The Iridium Internship Program is an opportunity for students to be a part of the Iridium teams shaping the future of satellite communications. As an Intern, you’ll begin making an impact on real projects from day one! Come prepared to grow, develop, and learn alongside a team and the leaders of our company. The Iridium Internship program is a 12-week program that runs from May 27, 2025 to August 15, 2025. During the program, interns will have the opportunity to provide valuable support to an Iridium department on a project or important work assignment. Interns will also be provided an opportunity to engage with senior leadership and fellow interns via regular engagement activities. Interns will participate in an end of internship presentation, where we ask them to reflect on their summer internships and present a summary of what they have learned and accomplished.
What We’re Looking For:
As a member of the Satellite and Ground Engineering team, you will work in an Agile environment as part of a scrum team to improve our software test platform. You will gain software development expertise working with languages such as C++ and Python as well as Linux operating systems. Your software will go through an agile software development process including requirements, design, development, inspection, and test. You will also gain experience with the project life-cycle including meeting with stakeholders to gather needs as well as demoing accomplishments. At the end of the internship you will have gained valuable software development and team collaboration experience that can be applied across the industry.
What You'll Do:
- Participate as part of an Agile scrum team, including daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint demo, and sprint planning.
- Gathering requirements and needs by meeting with stakeholders
- Design and develop new software features as identified
- Create and perform unit and integration testing to ensure correctness
- Participate in code reviews for your code
- Collaborate with a small software development team
Skills You’ll Obtain:
- Real-world experience in chosen field of interest and related topics through multiple hands-on projects
- Experience with a project's life-cycle such as requirements gathering, design and develop, verification and validation, and product release.
- Experience with Agile software development
- Familiarity with the industry-standard Atlassian set of team collaboration software including Jira, Bitbucket, and Confluence
- Hands on experience with C++ and Python

- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
- Must be currently enrolled in a bachelor's or graduate degree program at an accredited academic institution
- Preferably pursuing a degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
- Must be a US Citizen
- Must be able to work in person
