SUMMARY
Manages plans, leads and directs distribution executions and initiatives pertaining to shipping, receiving, storage, replenishment, production order fulfillment, and inventory control. Facilitates a culture of cGMP compliance, continuous improvement and safety in a team environment. Analyzes, recommends, and implements plans to improve process flows, optimize the utilization of staff and resources, and reduce operating costs. Develops, maintains, and conducts comprehensive training of Distribution personnel. Keeps abreast of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations to ensure compliance of training programs, executions, and equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Manage the daily distribution activities of shipping, receiving, storage, replenishment, production order fulfillment, and inventory control in a manner that provides an uninterrupted flow of material to all internal and external customers.
- Manage a comprehensive training program for the proper operation of material handling equipment and execution of Standard Operator Procedures (SOPs)
- Supports team members in identifying and solving problems and guides them toward self-direction in daily work.
- Develops and tracks associate performance against established department Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), appraising and holding individuals accountable for performance expectations.
- Recruits, trains, and develops associates to realize individual and team goals.
- Provides feedback for the most effective use of staff and resources to provide an uninterrupted supply of goods to all customers.
- Maintains a high level of inventory accuracy through the proper execution of SOPs. Supports FIFO procedures for inventory control and tracking.
- Oversees the execution of a cycle count program.
- Manages all documentation and processes are handled accurately and according to Quality System procedures
- Champions safety awareness and education, reporting of incidents, injuries and work hazards, and investigation of accidents.
- Provides back up coverage for Transportation Manager.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises 20 to 30 Associates. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training Associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining Associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must:
- Have performed in an MRP environment and have a thorough understanding of the disciplines required in a distribution center supporting a fast pace, high volume manufacturing / packaging operation.
- Possess a thorough knowledge of warehouse executions in an environment employing WMS/RF technology.
- Understand OSHA standards as they apply to Material Handling Equipment, training, and process execution.
- Associate’s degree in Business, Operations, Supply Chain Management, or related field required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in shipping, receiving, warehousing, and inventory control in an environment utilizing WMS/RF technology. Minimum 2-3 years of demonstrated supervisory success in a warehouse environment.
- Excellent communication, people management, conflict resolution, and time management skills are required.
- APICS certification is desired.
