What you'll do:This intern will join and support a collaborative team as we develop and implement internal communication, employer brand, and employee engagement strategies. This role will work cross-functionally with internal stakeholders to support key initiatives. The Internal Communications and Employer Brand team at Viasat is committed to implementing best-in-class structure, processes, and content to keep our employees and candidates aligned and engaged.
The day-to-day:Tasks may include:
- Write feature stories and onboard content for our new company intranet.
- Champion creative methods of improving employee engagement on digital channels.
- Interview employees
- Create content for Viasat social media channels and the careers.viasat.com website.
- Shadow communications team as you learn the elements and questions to ask when developing thoughtful communications plans.
- Support the execution of internal communications and employer brand campaigns that align with Viasat’s business and culture priorities.
- Transform complex concepts into terms everyone can understand.
- Build positive relationships across the organization.
- Support the rollout and adoption of new collaboration and communication tools.
- Look for ways to continuously improve internal communications methods and channels.
Internship Program Details:
- You will work onsite at a Viasat office location for the duration of your 12 week internship. Viasat embraces a flexible work environment and onsite/hybrid work is determined by individual roles and teams.
- Housing and relocation assistance are available to interns pending eligibility.
- To ensure equity across our intern population, intern compensation is pre-determined based on a variety of factors including: role, location, and final graduation date. Intern compensation is non-negotiable.
Education Requirements:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree or higher in Communications, English, Business, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or Psychology
- To be eligible for this position your final graduation date must fall between December 2025 and June 2026
Internship Dates:
- You must be available for the full duration of the 12-week internship program. Note limited exceptions may be granted. Viasat offers two options based on semester and quarter academic calendars:
- Cohort 1: May 20th, 2025 – August 15th, 2025
- Cohort 2: June 17th, 2025 – September 12th, 2025
Additional Requirements:
- Strategic and creative problem solver who generates ideas and effectively crosses the finish line
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail
- Ability to quickly grasp and synthesize complex issues
- Passionate, positive, self-starter who enjoys working in a cross-functional team environment
- Previous social media experience
- Experience working in SharePoint
- Knowledge of MS PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Canva
- Previous Viasat internship experience
