Responsibilities:
- Administrative Support (15 – 20%)
- Process communications department invoices
- Schedule communications department meetings, and assist with executive meetings as necessary
- Content Creation (30%)
- Assist in drafting and reviewing messages to internal audiences
- Assist with taking photos and short videos as needed at internal and community events
- Work with state specialists to coordinate field content and employee stories
- Assist with creation and/or ideation of visual graphics as needed
- Content Execution & Management (50%)
- Consistently update content on Essential’s Company Intranet, LED screens, and other distribution channels
- Manage Essential’s Company Intranet governance committee and process
- Support creation and distribution of executive communications to enhance an open and transparent work environment ensuring employees are informed about company, employee, government/regulatory, and community efforts
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to create and manage newsletters aimed at employee engagement
- Assist with Essential’s quarterly town hall meetings, including planning and execution
- Proofread emails, documents, policies, etc.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, marketing, public relations, communications or a related field
- Two to five years of experience in the communications field demonstrating tangible results
- A valid US driver’s license and ability to drive company vehicles
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- A basic knowledge of media relations, community and philanthropic organizations, communications best practices (print, press release, intranet/internet including social networking, employee communications, etc.)
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills with the ability to communicate effectively (writing, listening, public speaking)
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook)
- Knowledge of A.P. style
- A passion for people and storytelling
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- A team player able to work effectively in a team fostered multi-tasking environment
- Some level of knowledge in Illustrator, Photoshop, or Canva
- Some level of knowledge in Salesforce or other email marketing tool
- Some level of knowledge of Drupal, or other Intranet/CMS system
