Summary
DLA Piper is seeking a Policy Advisor to join its growing National Security & Global Trade practice. This position is open to our Washington, D.C. office.
Job Responsibilities
+ Prepare CFIUS filings and responses to question sets and coordinate global FDI due diligence and filings. Liaise with international DLA offices to prepare and coordinate FDI due diligence and filings.
+ Prepare CFIUS mitigation negotiation strategies and support DLA’s CFIUS team on mitigation agreement negotiations.
+ Build and maintain relationships with key influencers from Congressional, Executive, and Regulatory offices, trade associations, think tanks and other relevant organizations.
+ Monitor the legislative and regulatory environment relative to national security and trade policy, and communicate developments to clients and internal stakeholders.
+ Develop and build consensus on national security issues and related mitigation requirements, and policy positions on relevant policy issues.
+ Formulate and execute strategies to advance client objectives.
Education
+ Relevant Master’s Degree or JD
Bar Admission
+ Admitted to practice in Washington, D.C.
Experience
+ Minimum 5 years of experience working on CFIUS matters in the U.S. Government.
+ Direct and applicable AmLaw 100 law firm or Government Contractor experience.
+ Government and/or agency experience preferred.
+ Must have experience with CFIUS filings and foreign direct investment (“FDI”) screening, with a focus on due diligence, FDI filings, and governmental engagements.

Physical Demands, Work Environment, and Other Requirements

Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Pay Transparency
The expected annual pay range for this position, if hired to work in Washington, DC is $225,000 – $365,000 per year. The compensation offered to a candidate selected for employment will be dependent upon various factors, including the candidate’s geographic market, skills, educational and professional background, experience, and overall qualifications. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k).
