We are currently seeking a dynamic, highly skilled, and experienced International Wealth Planning Associate Attorney to join our team. This position provides an exciting opportunity to work with high-net-worth clients on complex international wealth planning matters. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of US estate and gift tax laws, grantor trust rules, transfer tax rules, and wills and trusts. This role demands a high level of strategic thinking, problem-solving, and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide comprehensive legal advice to high net worth clients on international wealth planning.
2. Prepare and review legal documents including wills, trusts, estate plans, and other related documents.
3. Stay updated with the latest changes in the U.S. estate and gift tax laws, grantor trust rules, and transfer tax rules.
4. Develop and implement strategies to minimize tax liabilities and maximize wealth preservation for clients.
5. Collaborate with internal teams and external advisors to provide holistic wealth management solutions.
6. Conduct legal research and analysis to support decision-making.
7. Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements in the execution of wealth planning strategies.
8. Provide support in dispute resolution and litigation related to estate and trust matters.
Qualifications:
1. Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials is preferred
2. An advanced law degree (LLM) in Taxation is highly preferred.
3. A minimum of 2 years of experience in international wealth planning, with a focus on high net worth clients.
4. Extensive knowledge of U.S. estate and gift tax laws, grantor trust rules, and transfer tax rules.
5. Proven experience in drafting and reviewing legal documents including wills, trusts, and estate plans.
6. Excellent research, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
7. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
8. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
9. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with clients and team members.
10. Membership in good standing with the New York state bar.
