JOB SUMMARY:
This internship will allow the student to gain firsthand experience and understanding of the Corporate Communications function and its role within a global company. The intern will be a part of a dynamic External Communications team that creates powerful stories and narratives for a range of audiences and stakeholders. In this role, they will support the team's core capabilities including media relations and monitoring, message and content development, issues management, public affairs advising and more. The intern will learn essential skills and techniques such as building and implementing a successful communications campaign, developing and executing effective proactive and reactive media strategies, creating and disseminating information and tracking media coverage.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Assists with planning and implementing projects that directly support the Corporate Communications function and the company's strategic initiatives.
+ Develops materials and content including media briefs, project outlines, and written and visual content for UDX platforms and channels.
+ Learns how to use media monitoring tools and assist with tracking media coverage, themes and sentiment.
+ Supports results reporting following execution of campaigns, announcements, etc.
+ Maintains and update media contact lists.
+ Participates in team and project meetings.
+ Supports department research needs.
+ Assists in the development of Corporate Communications messaging and content archive.
+ Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training, and Team Member involvement activities.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
+ In pursuit of an Associate, Bachelor or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution with current class standing of Senior or above.
+ Recent graduates will not be eligible for this program.
+ Minimum cumulative 2.8 GPA is required.
+ An official transcript may be required upon request.
+ Preferred majors include: Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Media Relations and/or Public Affairs.
+ Preferred coursework completed: Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Public Affairs.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Preferable skills for success in role include but not limited to:
+ Basic proficiency with Associated Press (AP) writing style required.
+ Familiarity with Adobe Suite preferred.
+ Preferred knowledge of news media/general news cycles.
+ Preferred familiarity with brand storytelling and robust communications campaigns.
+ Must be efficient in Microsoft Office Programs including, but not limited to: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
+ Strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities and organization.
+ Exceptional attention to detail.
+ Superior written & verbal communication skills.
+ Work in a fast-paced environment and adhere to deadlines.
+ Ability to work autonomously and/or in teams.
+ Consistent attendance.

+ This internship will be a hybrid experience, based in our Orlando offices.
+ Interns must be currently pursuing a degree at an accredited university, and must have a graduation date later than August 2025.
+ Universal Orlando does not provide housing. Interns are responsible for their own housing and transportation.
